The relationship between the US and the UK is sometimes called the Special Relationship, perhaps on account of our shared political history, perhaps our joint struggle in WWII, or perhaps both.

A lot of people say the Special Relationship isn't so great right now

Let's do our part to improve foreign relations! Post here with your UK or US details, favorite method of contact, and then reach out to anyone else on the thread from the other nation that catches your eye!

sometimes its two peoples divided by a common language;-)

Much US law is based on English Common Law (except Louisiana which is the Napoleonic code).

Most importantly (see my signature) contra dancing was originally English.

Hello from the Midwest part of the US.

I'm a 43 year old married man looking to talk with a lady. I, like many here, find myself in a marriage lacking sex. I have few expectations but eventually I may want someone to sext with including picture and video exchanges. I'm 6'3" tall, 210lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes and reddish brown beard. I enjoy reading, music and wood working, among other things. Still reading? If you are great!

Your relationship status doesn't matter to me as this would be online only. I'm open on age range as well, 30 to 50ish is fine. Please be willing to do what I'm asking for here to eliminate the chance of wasting each others time
I can be found only on kik at graywolf2060.

Let's improve foreign relations.

Yorkshire here! Not quite got that accent, but love the county!

Would love to talk with woman from the US, life and whatever comes up. Writing, reading, sci-fi, current events.

I once knew an English woman who was quite appalled when I said that she sounded like someone on Eastenders. I was also friends with a BA pilot who taught me to appreciate Jameson whiskey.

Anglophile American

I've lived in the U.S. most of my life, but had the pleasure of spending three years working and living in England during the 1990's. It was a very special time, possibly the best of my life. Lived in the northeast, near Middlesbrough and loved walking and hiking through the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. Got interested in football (aka soccer) and bought season tickets to the local EPL team, although they got relegated some years later.

1995 was the 50th anniversary of VE day and enjoyed several patriotic concerts, even got to see an actual Spitfire flyover! Brit fireworks are just as good as American, and everybody singing 'Land of Hope & Glory'...

Got hooked on Sharpe's Rifles and Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and Celtic music. And my favorite author is still C.S. Lewis.

Loved those pub meals, touring the UK and coach trips to Ireland, Wales, London theaters; also to Paris, and one to Austria.

I hated to leave, but my work assignment ended and my grandchildren were growing up in Texas, so we repatriated. But the memories are still very strong.

Here's the lowdown. 47 from ohio USA. Sarcastic in nature love coffee football and star wars among other things seeking that missing connection, that vibe, that spark you know?
Where we get butterflies in stomach feeling to see notifications on our phones. Friendship / Flirtationship get to know each other and cheer each other up with daily convo and selfie wars to show our moods.
Disclaimer complicated relationship so maybe one in same boat or one who won't judge. Lol

I have snapchat, and had kik but deleted would reinstall it for you.

Northeast US here, happy to chat about most anything and love to learn new things. PM here, I also have Skype and Telegram if you prefer.

A Boxing Day Bump

Happy Boxing Day to our friends over the Atlantic. I'd love to see this little thread revived again!

No thanks. Too many bloody guns, just for starters. It's amazing how many Brits can't or won't take on board the simple fact that the US is a foreign country. The same kind of thing seems to happen with Ireland.

We have more in common, culturally and historically, with Europeans.

Oh yes... and apple pie is English...

Hello to everyone over the pond in the US.
A belated hello in return from the US.

I don't think there is a monolithic "UK" (five minutes of watching debate in the House of Commons on lifting COVID restrictions, as an example, not even mentioning Brexit or the SNP or even The Troubles).

Just as I know there isn't a monolithic US. Our states are certainly not united.

I enjoy traveling to the UK, which is a relief given how frequently I find myself doing it so far in 2022, special relationship or not. I enjoy the fact that a good cider is nearly as common as a lager, and the best cider (Aspall, in my humble opinon) can actually be found in a pub often as not. I enjoy the architecture and the history, I enjoy the accents, I enjoy puzzling over the sometimes inexplicable differences in our "common" language. I know why you say "maths" instead of math, but I can't for the life of me figure out why you then say "sport" instead of "sports".

I like a proper English breakfast (minus the beans and tomato). I like afternoon tea. Your scones are better no matter how you pronounce them. I love your public parks in London and Kew Gardens outside of it.

Like Canada, the UK is similar enough to be comfortable but different enough to be interesting. And I'm quite happy making my own "special relationship" with it and its inhabitants.

Given the venue, that almost reads like an awkward segue into posting in the hopes of finding a nice girl or -- couple (!) -- to see to when I'm visiting again (next week) for ... as you might you say it: a snog, and a snuggle ... perhaps a shag?

My ancestors were from Wales. We had quite the business there stealing horses from King George III and selling them back to King George III. He was too stupid to realize our game so we know someone flipped on us when things went sour. Fortunately, we were well liked in the area so when the King ordered our arrest and execution, we were able to make it to the coast where only one boat was leaving that day...so off we headed to Georgia...a penal colony during those days. What a bunch of wankers you are...getting a little pissy over stolen horses. So yea...when you started a war here...you know which side we fought on. I would say our friendship is like a mother-in-law...comes with the horses.

I'll throw my hat in here. I grew up near a small town in the middle of America, but I'd always been favorably disposed to Britain. My father's family is all hillbillies and my mother's family is all rednecks (there is a difference!), so the classiest we got was watching British comedy on PBS. We always watched Keeping Up Appearances, which was hysterical to us. I got into As Time Goes By, (R.I.P. Geoffrey Palmer) but most folks didn't. I love Dawn French and her body of work. I'm not as big a fan of Ab Fab. I got into Monty Python in college and the Pythons really fit what was already a bizarrely absurdist personality on my part. (I was born like this, friends!)

I've made friends with some British folks and those of Anglo descent in recent years, and those relationships have been very rewarding. I'm not into footy, but several of my friends are huge Liverpool fans. I root for them anyway, and Liverpool usually doesn't let them down. I'll just stick to St. Louis Cardinals baseball, thank you. 😀 Every now and then, I'll splurge for a box of wine gums. I love those! $5 a box (about £3.73) for the bloody things, though!

In 2019, I got to spend two wonderful weeks in London. In March, so it was still cold, but better than going in high season. Got to have tea at Westminster (and tour the building!). Visited so many museums--I'm a huge museum geek. Went to Hampton Court Palace, the Globe, Greenwich, the Imperial War Museum, the Tate Modern, the Tower. Had to go to Brixton just to say I'd been there! Went to St. Albans and saw the Cathedral and Verulamium. Did a one-day coach trip that offered Windsor Castle, Salisbury, Stonehenge, and Bath. Got to see the basics, and that was alright. Got to have a full brekky. The banger and the bacon were just unbelievable. Had to give the mushroom and the tomato a miss, though.
