With Schumer’s self-imposed deadline of Christmas for Senate passage of Build Back Blunder, this is not the headline they wanted to see at this critical juncture.

It is likely to further solidify Manchin’s power position. He’s been raising inflation concerns for months. Could also give Cortez Masto and Hassan a reason to tap the brakes. Both Dems are extremely vulnerable in their re-election bids in states where BBB is not polling well. Tester’s support for BBB could get dicier as well.

The next two weeks will be very tense. Just 2 weeks to go, with the stakes getting higher with each passing day.

Destroying the country is the objecive, the trick is to do it while adopting a pose of saving the country.

It's global. Actually US is one of countries with the lowest inflation this year.

Doesn’t matter with regard to BBB. It’s politics. The bill has been stalled in the Senate. Manchin is raising the inflation flag, They can’t pass anything without his blessing. Sinema and Tester have been quietly coy throughout the process and remain so. And Cortez Mastro and Hassan are getting cold feet. Coastal Dems are complicating intra-party divisions over SALT caps. Heightened inflation fears two weeks before the self-imposed deadline for passage is not what BBB advocates were hoping for.

Today’s inflation report makes it even harder for Brandon to sell BBB. People have no confidence in him. His approval on the economy has fallen to 37% vs 56% who disapprove, and that poll was taken before today’s news. .
