more specifically, those who went on strike, asking for a 3% pay rise.

What do you guys on the Right have to say about it?

Not my side of the pond, but I find it jaw-dropping.

I'm qualified to answer this for them. They shouldn't have asked for a raise. If you are so worthless that you have to work for this company you aren't worth any more money than I'm giving you.

IF you're low or unskilled labor, striking in a country with an oversupply of unskilled labor is a risky idea. For a strike to work, you need to have some leverage.

Company made the right call for the company, can't let the employees start thinking it's co-op or some shit. Just replace them.

Totally expected. Yay freedom.

You are not entitled to a job.

You are not entitled to the pay that you think you should get.

You and your employer work together for mutual benefit. At any time, you can quit and pursue employment elsewhere. At any time your employee may fire you and pursue other employees to replace you.

If you are worth the 3% pay raise, then you should be able to find it working for a different company.

I'm sorry for these workers. They obviously thought that they could pressure their employer for more money, and the employer decided that they weren't worth it. It didn't work out. I hope they find new jobs.

Either a worker can strike for their rights or they can't.

Our economy has become horribly anti-worker.

I'm just waiting until they make it legal to employ kids in sweatshops again

Workers all have the right to strike including the ones the OP is about.

They just lost.

No workers have a right to pay increases.

Our economy has become horribly anti-worker.

Anti-union =/= anti- worker.

Independents with skills are crushing it right now, that's the new middle class.

Also why blue states like California and NY are doing all they can to crush their gig economies. People trying to work, are working, making that money and (D)'eez are doing all they can to stop them.

THAT is anti-worker.

I'm just waiting until they make it legal to employ kids in sweatshops again

That's what China is for.

They get to strike forever now.

Congratulations.

Wonder what happens when an employer ignores legitimate concerns of the working union....

Probably makes everyone want to work...maybe......

Indeed. While simply not showing up to work is indeed a valid reason to fire someone, doing so during pre-announced organized strike should be as obviously illegal.

They can be replaced too. :)

Why should that be illegal??

Does the company not have any right to protect it's economic interest??

Should employment not be a voluntary exchange??

We don't need no stinkin' middle class! We need our billionaires to be more wealthy! Woot!

Employers are not entitled to the business they run.

At any time a worker can refuse to work or quit.

Employers should not expect workers to be loyal at all....it's call giving what you get.

I don't buy Kellogg, never have, and if it treats it employees this way...well, Kellogg will get what it gets in return.

If you think employers holds all the cards....your wrong.

Don't forget cheap sugary morning stuff.

You two both probably support the (D)'eez and progressive efforts to destroy the "gig" economy by crushing independent contractors and programs like Lyft/Uber don't you???:D

Truthfully, the company should get competition that treats its employees better.

But when companies like Kellogg buy their competition......

*shrugs*

My breakfast is coffee, so I don't know much about Kellogg's products.

But I know that there's nothing magical about manufacturing in Michigan - other than legacy. Their product can be made anywhere in the world and for a company like Kellogs, capital can chase labor.

There's the way it should be, and the way it is.

Yes they are, private property is a thing no matter how much you want to stamp your feet and pretend the USA is a socialist shit hole. It's objectively not.

At any time a worker can refuse to work or quit.

Always been the case.

Employers should not expect workers to be loyal at all....

They don't. That's why we don't pay if you don't work.

If you think employers holds all the cards....your wrong.

Depends on the markets.

A highly trained/educated/experienced specialist of high value? Probably going to pay their price. They're expensive and most importantly hard to come by.

Button pushers, janitors, baggers, cashiers, poop scoopers and all the other dumb ape jobs that we got a surplus of dumb apes to fill? You'll just get replaced, If you don't have a more valuable skill set, you don't hold very many cards if any at all.

Yay all that illegal immigration, makes replacing low/no skill labor super easy and Cheap. :D

Get your game up kids!
