Administration officials have suggested that the U.S. will press Ukraine to formally cede a measure of autonomy to eastern Ukrainian lands now controlled by Russia-backed separatists who rose up against Kyiv in 2014. An undefined “special status” for those areas was laid out in an ambiguous, European-brokered peace deal in 2015, but it has never taken hold.

Biden also will have to finesse Ukraine’s desire to join NATO. The U.S. and NATO reject Putin’s demands that they guarantee Ukraine won’t be admitted to the Western military alliance.

Tell me again how Trump was Putin's puppet.

Ukraine has no chance of taking back those territories no matter what the U.S. does, so why should it not make this gesture, which amounts to no more than the recognition of a fait accompli?

The arms provided to Ukraine were under the condition they not be used in the conflict zone.

Nice try though

Trump tried to convince folks that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 US election, instead if the actual culprit, Putin.

I think of that whenever I see posters here denying that Russia interfered in 2016. They must be against Ukraine, because they think that Ukraine was pro-Clinton and pro-Biden, Burisma Burisma Burisma.

Then this happens, and now we see the same posters trying to be pro-Ukraine.

I repeat, why not?

Ukraine has to be shaking in their boots, as do the Baltic republics. From there, Poland is ripe...

Poland is a member of Nato, as is Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and three former Warsaw Pact countries.

Aside from conservative cowardice no we don't all know this or even really suspect this.

Yeah? So why did Chocolate Jesus wink as Putin took the Crimea? Hey, he did send some blankets to Kiev, though.

Trump also put the screws to Nordstream II, Joe opened it back up. Once that's done, count on Europe suddenly having something else to do when Putin takes the next bite of Europe.

And we promised Ukraine membership in NATO if they would just give up their Soviet nukes. How'd that work out for them?

Very Good Point

Yes, Trump put his own ego ahead of European unity and safety.

All of this sounds just like pre-WWII 'appeasement' rhetoric from Neville Chamberlain.

Push the pro-Russian separatist out of Ukraine. However, Bidden doesn't have the balls to step into Putin's face.

Trump was--and probably still is--Putin's puppet in everything he said and did, right out on the open.

Yet it's the Democrats who invariably do things that make Putin richer and more powerful. There's just no evidence for your premise.

Trump this, Trump that, meanwhile like Obama, Biden is ready to cede Ukraine to Putin. The surrender of Afghanistan and hundreds of American hostages wasn't enough. Will Joe get all Americans out of Ukraine in time?
