Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, perhaps someone can direct me where to go to find out.

But I'm wondering if there's some kind of issue going on with publishing artwork.

I've submitted two pieces a fan of my Jenna series made for me, depicting my main characters, and they've been sitting in the Pending Approval section for weeks now.

I don't wanna bug the Administrator if I don't have to, just wondering if this is normal and I need to be more patient, or if there's a problem I'm unaware of.

I'm not an expert on the illustrated category, but I understand that a) they take longer to post, and b) you have to own the copyright for the illustrations. You shouldn't be able to post someone else's art. It's the same as posting someone else's story.

Copyright issues and the difficulty of verifying ownership. You yourself identify a different owner of the artwork than you. It's not you who then needs to give Lit. permission to reprint it, and it's difficult for proper use permissions to be established with Lit., which is vulnerable to copyright violation charges.

I have permission from the artist to post them and give him credit in the posts.

I have already posted one of his images earlier.

I would think if that was the case, they'd have been rejected and sent back with an explanation.

There was a time when art work got processed once a month. Those times might still apply.

One would think so, but the issue was on why it might take longer and be more involved than just having a story text posted. Plus there is evidence around here that the Web site itself isn't all that well versed in copyright violation issues that include responsibility falling back on the Web site, so what happens with specific individual cases can't be counted on to be uniform or fully understood.

Legally, in the publishing world, you declaring you have permission isn't going to be enough evidence you do for a publisher to use the illustrations. It won't be that simple. Verifiable permissions documents will have to be lodged with the publisher. That's hard to do in the electronic environment.

I guess I'll have to contact an admin. I could just claim the images as mine, but I'd feel like I was stealing credit from the artist despite his permission for me to post them. I'd rather be honest about it.

I don't see where you say how long ago you submitted it. It could be that it's just taking a typically long time for that type of submission as Electricblue suggests. I have no idea what Laurel considers in passing/not passing such submissions.

It should be posted soon because the last batch was November 4th and they get posted once a month.
