it appears to be highly contagious, transmissible even among the double-vaccinated. What's unclear right now is whether or not this variant makes people more sick and if it's more or less deadly.

the good news is that the vaccine producers should be able to tailor their boosters (even initial shots?) within a few months. the bad news is that so long as so many in the world are unvaxxed the virus has the greater chance to replicate with new, potentially more dangerous, variants. Deny it hosts and it gets slowed down till it fades away as a major threat.

We shouldn't do anything. If you aren't smart enough to wear a mask...and you go into public areas with lots of people...then they get what they get.

Much ado about nothing.

Mutations get less virulent since they want to survive
and killing the host is not a survival mechanism...

It's just another way to scare us into surrendering
more liberty to the State (a pernicious but necessary evil).

Biden is having none of it. After being briefed by the “experts”, Biden said “fuck this shit. It’s time to get back to normal.” The President then ordered his security team to take him to downtown Nantucket. He emerged from his limo and walked into a a store. Ignoring the “masks required” sign, the maskless potus shouted at stunned onlookers “Fuck it Nantucket, throw your masks in the bucket.” One shopper challenged the President, accusing him of being reckless and endangering lives. Undeterred, Biden challenged the lady to a push-up contest.

Cute. But even if any of that were true, it would still be less outrageous than the truth about Trump's behavior when he was hospitalized with covid.
