Protests nation wide over Kenosha verdict

So, those here who said not a peep about the verdict occurred...ah, wrong.

Protests occurred across the entire country: New York, Chicago, Wisconsin, Portland, Oakland and many other places.

Not that I agree with all of the messaging that is coming out of these protests just like I'm not in agreement with the hero worship protests for Mr. Rittenhouse.
 
my favorite story concerns portland. police declared the peaceful protest a riot because some of the protestors lit small fires in the middle of the empty street. what if they gave a riot and nobody came?
 
Portland folks seem to just enjoy being cosplay pissy ten yrs olds who learned they can throw shit at each other.

Not sure what it is about the region that attracts these types. My best friend lives out there and is not even close to that

*yawn* Not happening here. We shot our "peaceful protestor" long before Kyle picked up on the technique. Nothing puts a damper on a riot like those three magic words, "Shoot to kill." :)
 
With the exception of Portland, where riots are a part of daily life, the anticipated violent mobs never showed up. Some people “gathered” in Chicago and Columbus, some people walked across a bridge in Brooklyn, and a prayer vigil was held in Kenosha. The anger is quite palpable in newsrooms at CNN and MSNBC however.

President Biden released a statement Saturday mourning the loss of more than 40 transgender Americans who died by violence in 2021.

“Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we mourn those we lost in the deadliest year on record for transgender Americans, as well as the countless other transgender people — disproportionately Black and brown transgender women and girls — who face brutal violence, discrimination, and harassment,” Biden said.

There will always be a criminal element in poor communities that take advantage of the distraction caused by legitimate demonstrations in order to loot. There will also always be an element of extreme activists who believe that destruction is the way to cause political change.
