Yes folks the phony panic has been going on for a half of a century.

50 years of predictions that the climate apocalypse is nigh

Apocalypse . . . now?

For the past two weeks in Glasgow, Scotland, world leaders have gathered at COP 26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, to listen to the same message: Disaster is just around the corner.

“The world has to step up, and it has to step up now,” former President Barack Obama said. “When it comes to climate, time really is running out.”

Professional yeller Greta Thunberg demanded the United Nations declare a “systemwide climate emergency,” and force countries to take action.

Press accounts were similarly Chicken Little-esque. If developed nations don’t phase out oil and gas and give $100 billion in “climate financing,” Paul Behrens, professor in environmental change, told Politico that “the only fact about the future I can declare with certainty is that the world as we know it is coming to an end.”

Past examples here (for Zumi, "The Receipts")::D

The agreement didn't go far enough. Those extreme weather events are already increasing and flooding as well on the coastlines.

At least we got China to commit to more than was expected.

It is too bad you don't see what is coming for all of us and very soon...it will make covid look like a picnic in the park.

Florida is already dealing with it... DeSantis knows it and doesn't speak on it cause he wants votes..the mayor's their already are doing mitigation to the tune of millions of dollars.

The desert west and California are next....when water start to be shut off to conserve and people start to revolt...you can't have water if there isn't enough.

They never happened. The Population Bomb, never happened either.

It's already too late. The Earth is beyond the tipping point and we need to concentrate on mitigation. And buy farmland in upper central Canada.

We've been lied to for a half a century. The apocalypse has been just around the corner for 50 years. The end of the World has been coming for 2000 years. It will eventually get here, so keep talking and put that fervor in your will as well, so that your progeny can labor on with the same predictions of impending doom on into the future.

You're not complete wrong, but there are still non mitigating actions that can take place.

The atlantic conveyor is about to collapse. When that happens the global climate will change. Some places for the better, some for the worse.

Tell that to the 283 yearly heat related deaths in Arizona.

You ignoring what is happening because you're focused on having every single extreme prediction occur before you are on with it, is just dumb.

Of course predictions are extreme when action is needed.

The hottest day on earth in history was on July 10, 1913 in Death Valley, CA. None of which, either then or now, was caused by man.

Yah, I think that's the big unknown...how the exposing of CO2 from the oceans.and the warm water released will impact things.

Literally NONE of it happened! So tired of all the lying about “climate change!” It’s bullshit!

Yah, I think that's the big unknown...how the exposing of CO2 from the oceans.and the warm water released will impact things.

Warmer oceans mean the CO2 turns to carbonic acid, which upsets the food chain, which causes a collapse in ocean life.

The atlantic conveyor is what keeps Europe habitable.

Meanwhile Brandon has called on OPEC to step up oil production. They told him he can pump it himself. 😂😂😂😂😂

Yes, I know there's a lot involved. The thing is that it's been harder to predict be ause of our lack of knowledge about our oceans.

The atlantic conveyor is what keeps Europe habitable.

I once read a Golden Age SF story in which a chain of volcanic eruptions causes all Central America to sink. This means the Gulf Stream now flows into the Pacific -- and Europe gets dangerously cold. (A solution is found -- building an underwater wall atop the remains of Central America.)
