American Thanksgiving is in 13 days and while it can be a hectic and stressful time for some or even lonely for others, it's always a good reminder to stop and appreciate and give thanks for the people and things in our lives that we just couldn't do without.

Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a federal holiday in America and set it aside as a day of thankfulness and humble penitence. (It's a really interesting address, here's an article.). And anytime we can carve out time to be humble and grateful, I think is time well spent.

So every day, please stop by and share something you're thankful for that day. I'll post a few prompts but feel free to post whatever makes your heart happy that day.

What a great idea ❀️

I am thankful for excellent health and the two stropping sons I helped to make and raise.

I am thankful for friends, my job and the life I have carved out for myself here.

😘😘

Day 1

I am so thankful for my pets. Not just my current pets but all the ones from cats to rabbits to goats to chickens. Every stray dog that became a family member, every cat who became the boss of me, that one rooster who was in love with my mama, and the hairless hamster Yoda. They've taught me how fast a heart can fall open for something that needs you and the hard responsibility of caring for something that is almost inevitably a time bomb of sadness.

I'm thankful that pets are an instant point of connection between some people and provide a lifetime of love and laughs and stories and companionship.

Today I'm most thankful for the mean black cat who keeps everyone on their toes, my snuggly hound dog and my sweet bear of a Shepard whose farts woke me up this morning. :cattail::heart:

Thank you PLP, this is a wonderful idea:cattail:

I am grateful for my family
- For the constant and consistent craziness and touch of madness that makes us able to recognise one another as family.❀️

I am grateful for my brothers,
- They have fought and shaped their life, against so many odds have they managed to find their way in life. Each day we talk, they fill me with joy and pride❀️

I am grateful for being me,
- Everyday I laugh and giggle, everyday seems better than the days before.. I feel loved, cared for, and seen❀️

Great thread idea as always PLP. πŸ’•

I’m grateful for the one who made me a mom. For the one who is my heart beating outside of my chest. I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to stay home and raise him in the early years and to shape him into the man he is becoming. Some days I feel like a complete failure as a parent, but then there are others when I am reminded that he’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I recently had another mom tell me how kind he was to a kid who is a bit of an outcast and doesn’t have many friends. She said he was so sweet to him and made him feel like he was part of their group (this was at a birthday party) and how much it touched her heart. I love everything about him, but his kind and generous heart is what I’m most proud of.

Oh I am thankful for the people in my past who have been part of my journey to who I am today.
Even if they are no longer in my life.

I'm thankful for another day of good health and another opportunity to be a better person. I'm also thankful for all the acorns falling off the Live Oak.

I am thankful that I am still alive to celebrate another Thanksgiving/Christmas with my family.

Today I'm thankful for the special few Litsters in my life who I can share anything with, who've encouraged me and raised my spirits, and who have trusted me with a window into their lives as well. They know who they are. :)

Last night my youngest daughter attended her first school dance! 😍

I'm thankful for how all of the details that could have gone wrong, fell beautifully into place instead.

Dress from Goodwill, found on our only available shopping day. Tights from Rite Aid, found day of the dance. Shoes donated for the occasion by my oldest daughter, small evening bag on a strap donated by second oldest daughter, transportation provided by my boss last minute, after I came down sick and couldn't drive.

She had a marvelous time, and I am thrilled that her first big public event of young womanhood has set such a positive tone for things to come.

My baby bird is finding her wings. πŸ’–

By me not getting on here much, I totally missed this yesterday.

(Yesterday) I’m thankful for:

The air that I breathe in first thing in the mornings before opening my eyes.
The signs of life around me reminding me, I’m not alone.
The ability to communicate with loved ones.
My sincerity not taken for granted.
Expressing my thoughts.
This thread.

Today, I’m thankful for:

Accomplishments
Family and friends
Remembering needs
The ability to change
The choice to forgive
Early morning moments

Day 2 - I'm grateful for all of my youngest son's teacher's, aides, therapists, and everyone who works with him. It's not easy parenting a child with autism, but he's got a fantastic team of people making a real, tangible difference in his life and ours.

Day 2

I’m grateful for my mom. I am the person I am because of her. She’s loving, generous and kind.

Day 2

I'm thankful for my inlaws. They aren't perfect but they are the normal, stable family I never had. They are the picture of unconditional love and generosity. My father in law is the perfect example of someone who doesn't have "book learnin'" but is the smartest I know. My mother in law is blount and tough but always caring. And my brother in law has no idea how big of a sibling shaped hole he's filled in my heart.

Day 1(yesterday)All of the amazing people I have come to call friends here:heart:
Music and the effect it has on us
Getting through the whole day and not crying

Day 2 My mom. she was one of the kindest people I have ever known, never complained a day in her life, everyone that ever met her, loved her. I could not have asked for a better mom. I miss her terribly.

Day 1: thankful for being (mostly) back in the classroom and not teaching online. SO thankful.

Day 2: thankful for my puppy, not really a puppy anymore, who's kept me from going completely insane over this last year.

Day 3

I'm thankful for my body. It's strong and healthy and resilient.

I'm thankful that I'm learning to love its flaws and imperfections while still seeing its beauty and desirability. While living with accepting that my body is not everyone's cup of tea, it is also some people's favorite taste.

Im thankful my body is stubborn and persistent. It carries me through the hardest things when my mind and heart just want to give up. I'm thankful that when I mistreat it by eating something too spicy or drink too much, my body forgives me after a penitence of Tums or Tyelonol.

I'm thankful for this flesh suit that walks me around the world, holds those close to me, and experiences and gives indescribable pleasure. Thanks body!

My wife was in a car accident this morning. The car's good and dented up, but she's ok.

I'm thankful it wasn't too serious.
I'm thankful there were witnesses who stuck around long enough to talk to the police.
I'm thankful she'll be home tonight.

I'm thankful for Nurse Fara and extra strength nasal spray (they didn't have the drops). Holy cow! It works!

I'm thankful that, aside from being fat, I'm pretty healthy for my age.

I'm thankful for my dude - who isn't much of a phone talker - calling to check up on me. His voice is good medicine. :cathappy:
