To Moderator for authors: I have a story I submitted Nov. 1st and it was listed as pending. Today on Nov. 10th it's still listed as pending. ???????

Generally this means the author didn't go the last step and actually push the final submit button. I can't walk you through where the process may have broken down, but that's definitely long enough to ask Laurel, the submissions editor, (politely) whether it's fallen in the cracks. She can only be reached via PM (private message), top right of this screen, which needs to be turned on via the "User CP," top left of this screen.

It is pointless to ask the Authors' Hangout.

The only arbiter is Laurel. You can query the delay by sending a Private Message to Laurel.

But: Stories from new authors take longer to process because they are not a known quantity and are more likely to inadvertently beak the rules, much more than established authors. A story from a new author needs more detailed checking.

When a contest is running (not yet), non-contest stories get lower priority.

So, ask Laurel, politely, if there is a problem.

This is why it's best to go directly to Laurel with the problem. The poster rarely gives a full picture of what has transpired and the users on the AH don't have enough information then to give a comprehensive response.

If it is pending with a future date, then that means it will post on that date. If example, my winter contest story has been in pending for a week or so, with a date of 11/11, the start of the contest. The key is to not touch it at that point, as it is staged for the start of the contest.

You're probably tempted to publish again, but don't do it. Once you hit that button it takes a few days at least for the story to be posted. At least now you know for future stories you wish to publish.

I agree with what Ogg said. He is wise and usually correct.

Category also makes a difference. I believe I am now in the "establish author" category and in the categories that have fewer submissions like Anal, the process is faster. In a category like Erotic Couplings where there are a lot of submissions, it is slower.

Leave it alone, be patient and write your next one.
