Article II, Section 2 sums it up. Throw in the oath of office and the duties are specified.

Commander in Chief of the armed forces, the international face of US policy, and the faithful administration of laws passed by congress. Outside of the foreign dimension the duties and powers of the president are limited.

That being said I've watched the perceptions of the powers of the president morph over the years. It has now reached the point that many expect the president to intervene on their own personal dilemmas.

"Hep me, hep me, my chile be sick."

That's an exaggeration of a pervasive attitude that transcends any racial or cultural identity. It's a mind set that leads, inevitably, to absolute dictatorship. And that, just as inevitably, will lead to the total suppression of any criticism of the dictator.

Why would anyone of sound mind would expect the president to intervene on their behalf? What's even worse is that those petitioning the 'president' for favor the demands distill to money, not legislative relief of circumstance.

We are on the cusp of not only a civil war, but WWIII. One or the other, and God forbid both, are coming, just a matter of when. NONE of those eventualities are going to work out well for anyone.

I was once at a museum in Washington -- perhaps it was the National Archives -- that had an audio-visual display on petitionary letters to the president. Going back to the early 19th Century. Many amounting to something along the lines of "My chile be sick." This is nothing new.

And, no, we're not on the cusp of any Civil War, nor of WWIII.

Neither of these things are likely at all. World War III is simply not happening, the relationships between countries has changed over the last century. We will NEVER see WW3. There is just too much for everybody to lose and too little to gain. WW2 SHOULDN'T have happened but it was more sad angry people lashing out, it had nothing to with rational behavior. We screwed ourselves with the Treaty of Versailles and kinda deserved what we got even if the Jews didn't. But China needs us buying their shit. They are never going to do a thing. Russia is just barely holding all its shit together and the US has never been an aggressor nation. That is NEVER happening.

A civil war is at least realistic in the same way that say Microsoft vs Amazon vs Walmart is realistic. Crazy shit happens every so often but this wouldn't be high on my list of fears. Its just not impossible since the Left and Right are increasingly divided but when you look at resources a Libs vs Cons fight would be a few months at most of libs saying "Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself" and cons "But you're the one hitting me." Libs "No, I assure you, you brought this on yourself."

Either way neither is happening. What we need to be prepared for is the New World Order/One World Government which is certainly happening sooner or later. We are already at a point where basically six people run all media, Walmart is so dominate that I don't even know where a Target or Kmart is. Most big grocery stores are down though obviously some are still hanging on. I have a Vons, a Superior and given where I live some Hispanic and Asian spots. But I don't have a lot of options.

People don't really realize in fast food that KFC, Pizza Hut and I think Taco Bell are all one company and McDonalds is probably teamed with something.

All they really need is a bank or two and they could effectively conquer the world if they wanted. I would be a counsel but if twenty people are running the world that's basically conquest.

I thought it was weird when Trump pardoned people because Kim Kardashian asked him to. Is that how it’s supposed to work?

What...no holy war also? Might as well finish out your overdramatic bullshit while you're at it.

9/11 allowed Congress to relinquish control of their war powers. Repeal the Patriot Act and additional blanket authorization of war
