Voters r hurting politicians / lawmakers in Britain. How soon until it happens here?

This isn't the first time -- I recall a Labour MP got stabbed by a Brexiteer around the time of Brexit.

I guess MPs will have bodyguards soon.
 
Politicians in the UK interact with their electorate face to face almost every day, far more than US politicians. There is always a risk when dealing with multiple members of the public, some of whom will be very angry.

PS. Because of my health issues, I have largely retired from community affairs, but a few years ago I would expect to meet my Member of Parliament at least three times a month. Even now, if I rang his office to make an appointment to see him? I would probably get a session with him faster than with my doctor.

Some of that would be because of who I am, and that he knows I wouldn't be wasting his time, but anyone can ask to see him personally and will usually get a personal discussion within a fortnight.

A think a British MP has significantly fewer constituents than an American Congresscritter.
 
It already happens here (did we forget about the attack on the congressional baseball practice or Gabby Gifford, to cite two recent examples).

I'm a little skeptical that the MP's in the UK meet with their constituents more than American members of the House. I've known a couple personally over the years and they kept very busy meeting with their constituents on a daily basis, either in their district or when they were in DC. Anyone could call and set up a meeting or just drop in (they all kept office hours). Pretty much every day they were attending some sort of community function.

It's different for those in leadership positions, but that is more a function of the demands on their time.

Now, it might be harder for an average American to get to see their Representative, but that is just a function of the number of people they represent.

What, is there some kind of international RW solidarity going on here? Seems to contradict the ideology. Leftists are supposed to have international solidarity. RWs are supposed to be strictly national.

The previous murdered MP was a Labour (left) politician.

In the UK, it doesn't matter which party you support when something like this happens. We are all affected.

Jo Cox, the previous one killed, was given tributes by members of all political parties as being a dedicated constituency MP who would do her best for any of her constituents.

Edited for PS: And now the same things are being said across the UK's political spectrum about the MP killed today. he was a genuinely nice man respected even by his opponents, with whom he had worked together for common causes.
