dude has always been a moron. i'm not surprised by any of this. most football coaches seem to only be good at coaching football. anything else is completely beyond their ken including being a decent human being. it's one of the reasons i don't really give a shit about football anymore.

Terrible coach. Yes, he won a SB with Tony Dungey’s team. After that he sucked and got fired. Then he got rehired by the Raiders and never had a winning record. His draft picks have been horrible. Mayock has the GM title but Gruden made all the final decisions.

The key takeaway however, is the obvious institutional tolerance for his behavior. That's how it works in ALL institutions. You have the "bad apples" along with the rest of the enabling apples of the same variety in the barrel that maintain the code of silence. Who all was CC'ed in those emails, and what actions did they take after receiving them???
This better not end with Gruden's resignation.

The OP called Gruden “legendary.” Over his last 10 seasons his record is .435, zero playoff wins. His record since rejoining the Raiders was .500, zero playoff appearances. He has 6 seasons left on a $100 million 10 year contract. And that’s why owner Mark Davis leaked the emails.
