President Joe Biden’s failing “infrastructure” agenda on Capitol Hill reportedly threatens Democrats’ 2022 midterm chances to maintain control of the government.

David Wasserman from the Cook Political Report told the Hill that Biden’s failing agenda and sicking poll numbers are directly tied to the chances Democrats have in the 2022 midterms.

“Biden’s approval rating matters more to midterm outcomes than the success of his agenda,” Wasserman said. “If a large infrastructure bill passes, there’s no guarantee his approval will recover. … But if it fails, it could get worse — and that’s what Democrats have to fear.”

Keep in mind that success of a president's agenda often contributes directly to a loss in midterm elections, because that success energizes the opposition (while often the president's side is disappointed if the win wasn't exactly what they wanted).

The president's party almost always loses ground in a midterm. The Dems ought to focus on accomplishing what they can before then for that very reason. As for Biden's poll numbers, he doesn't face re-election for three more years and if the Republicans do take over, they will undoubtedly overstep their bounds and re-energize left of center voters. They always do.

If people pay attention to why a hugely popular infrastructure agenda is being thwarted--because the Republicans are thwarting it, even if their constituents favor it--the Democrats will do very well in the interims. All the agenda needs is more Democrats in office. I trust the Democratic candidates will be using this heavily in the coming campaigns along with specific information on the voting district level of what the Republicans are thwarting.

Bingo. Also, too many left-of-center voters tend to get disappointed when our politicians prove to not be miracle workers. The Republicans always leave a big mess to be cleaned up and a lot of fires to put out, and that necessarily diverts a lot of attention away from doing what we actually want them to do.
