He may be a hopeless old duffer but he's still better than what we suffered through for the last four years. Am I a fan of Biden? Not particularly. Did I vote for him? Yes, because frankly there was no frickin' choice.

The Democrats needed a better candidate who was more competant and not beholden to the left wing extremists. (And frankly, the Republicans need the same, i.e. one who isnt always trying to curry favor with the far-right extremists.)

The left wing of the Democratic Party most definitely didn't see Biden as one of theirs. They certainly don't see him as their standard bearer in the current intraparty struggle. They seem quite aware that he's going to give the moderates more than he gives the progressives.
