Their only care concerning Afghanistan has been keeping whatever was happening there from affecting the U.S. homeland. At the base, that's a reasonable care, but, like the immigration issue, they fail to realize that the most effective answer is to make people happy enough to be where they are and not thinking about the United States at all. That means helping safety and development where they are.
