A Firehose of Lies From formerly-Republicans and MAGA

"The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them,
is to flood the zone with shit."

- Steve Bannon

Steve Bannon admits he helped plan 6 January Trump rally
to ‘kill the Biden presidency in the crib’

- The Independent

The lies are flying thick and fast from the formerly Republicans and MAGA.

(I am guessing that the elections are not the only reason, the production of lies is escalating)

A firehose of lies about Covid-19 creates people that cannot understand the truth -

Doctor who lost over 100 patients to COVID says some deny virus from their death beds

One patient demanded a different doctor, saying "I don't believe you."

September 25, 2021

Matthew Trunsky, who has lost more than 100 patients to the coronavirus,
reached his breaking point.

When he got home that evening, he made himself a sandwich and opened Facebook.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/09/24/michigan-doctor-plea-unvaccinated/

One demanded a different doctor. “I don’t believe you,” he told the physician.

The physician added: “Of course the answer was to have been vaccinated —
but they were not and now they’re angry at the medical community for their failure.”

Trunsky said patients he sees give different reasons for not taking one of the vaccines.
Some, he said, regret the decision — like a nursing mother who said she was concerned
about how a vaccine might affect her newborn baby.

Others, Trunsky said, remain convinced they made the right choice —
even on their deathbeds.

Whatever their reasons, he told The Post, “they are paying the price, and they are getting mad at us.”

What in the hell does the Wuhan Flu have to do with MAGA or conservatives?

You haven't picked up on that?

MAGAs-conservatives* refuse to vaccinate...

(But not in numbers like black Democrats.)

* Of course, like Racism, the word Conservative covers people the Left doesn't like and Conservatives are Racist MAGAs.

Closer to the truth to say the far right has co-opted the "conservative" label because it sounds a lot nicer than the extremism they really are peddling. There used to be a difference between "conservative" and "right-wing". Used to be.

President-elect Joe Biden became President Biden at noon Eastern time,
after he took the oath of office to become the nation's 46th President.

Trump's former paid liar, currently recycled into a FOX TV simulation of a human being,
served her duty as Trump minion, and she lied.

The last time White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany appeared
before the assembled press in the briefing room, she was well organized,
as usual. It was Jan. 7, the day after the Capitol riot. Speaking for the
“entire White House,” she plowed through a prepared statement
deploring the actions of the rioters. Then she closed her briefing
book and bolted. In all, it took one minute and 50 seconds.

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted a graphic
on Thursday showing a rise in murders in 2020 and blamed it on Joe Biden,
who became president in 2021.

- Huffington Post

So, @kayleighmcenany has deleted this tweet, which showed 2020's spike
in the murder rate under her then-boss President Trump. She falsely blamed
Biden. She hasn't posted a correction or apologized to her followers.

Sunday, the daughter of (deceased) Senator John McCain , , Meghan McCain,
made her first TV appearance since leaving The View

On Meet the Press, McCain slammed Biden’s agenda as “not polling well”
and is even “cratering.”

https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/meghan-mccain-meet-the-press/

(Meet the Press fell down on the job, and did not bother to push back
on Meghan's claims. They just quoted her, and left it at that.

Biden “ran and won with the help of independent centrists. … The ‘Build Back Better’
Agenda is the most progressive, modern agenda of all time up to $5 trillion dollars and
it’s not polling well. So I think I’m just confused why they’re doubling down.” —

- Jennifer Rubin

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) admitted that Republicans who won’t criticize Trump
publicly, give her a thumbs up behind closed doors.

“The argument that, that you often hear is that if you do something that is perceived
as against Trump that, you know, you’ll put yourself in political peril,” she explained.
“And that’s a self-fulfilling prophecy because if Republican leaders don’t stand up
and condemn what happened then, the voices in the party that are so dangerous
will only get louder and stronger.”

(Liz) Cheney continued:
“When you look at the spread of these mistruths and the spread of the disinformation
you know, silence enables it. Silence enables the liar. And silence helps it to spread.”
She warned, “So the first thing you have to do is say, ‘No. I’m not going to accept
that we’re going to live in a post-truth world.’”

Just days away from having the U.S. Supreme Court, starting a new session.

Missouri and the Election Crisis

Senator Roy Blunt

Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, as expected, voted not guilty in the second impeachment
trial of former President Donald Trump.

Senator Josh Hawley was the first senator to announce he would object to certifying
the Electoral College results in the 2020 presidential election.

On the day of the Senate action, January 6, Hawley was photographed raising his fist
to salute people outside the U.S. Capitol who later stormed the building in hopes of
reversing Trump's defeat. And when rioters were finally cleared from the Capitol
and senators emerged from safe rooms, he was one of just six who objected to
certifying the election results.

(Opposition to the The Freedom to Vote Act, added voter restrictions)

"Our democracy is in crisis. We have witnessed a full-scale assault on our freedom
to vote right here in Missouri and in states around the country."

"I'm not trying to sound dramatic here, but the fate of democracy hangs in the balance
right now in a way we haven't seen since the Civil War period."

- Denise Lieberman, a voting rights expert and director of the Missouri Voter
Protection Coalition

Dating back to its inception, Missouri has played a long and often unflattering role
when it comes to voting rights. Famously, the Dred Scott case was tried at St. Louis'
Old Courthouse, just a few blocks from where Blunt and Hawley now have offices.
The Supreme Court ruled against Scott and his wife Harriet in their bid for freedom
in 1857.

The decision undercut the Missouri Compromise, which Lieberman points out was
itself a voting-rights decision, intended to maintain the balance of power between
free and slave states. The Dred Scott ruling meant no Black men or women were
guaranteed citizenship and it helped lead to civil war.

At issue is an audit released in February 2020 that found the Missouri Attorney
General’s office under Hawley may have misused state resources to boost his
successful campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Within weeks of being sworn in as attorney general in January 2017,
Hawley brought in out-of state political consultants to help direct his
office who would go on to run his 2018 campaign that unseated
Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Whether Hawley or his staff broke the the law is unclear, the report concluded,
because they regularly conducted state business off government servers through
use of private email and text messaging.

The audit also found Hawley used a state vehicle, driven by a state employee,
on trips where the purpose was not documented in travel itineraries or vehicle
mileage logs.

The Kansas City Star had previously reported Hawley used a state car for political events.

To support the underlying findings, Galloway’s 450 page report included transcripts
of depositions with former staff, emails, financial records and other documents.

Hawley cried foul, denying any wrongdoing and filing a complaint with the board
of accountancy.

bodysong comment- both Aidan McLaughlin and Robert Kagan make a point
to mention Trump's fuckery has reached state level, and it has gone past silly
"Fraudit" fuckery, to become serious interference with the right to vote.

"The Big Lie, " that Trump is constantly reinforcing through repeating it, every
chance he gets, began as a pebble to be shrugged off and laughed at,
but is now a wedge that has split the nation in two.

On the crisis facing future U.S. elections:

It can’t get any worse. We had an attack on our Capitol.

In my reality check, I began by quoting from Robert Kagan’s op-ed in The Washington
Post.

(...)

This is an all hands on deck crisis for our generation, defending liberal democracy.
(If) you told me that that was going to be what we would have to spend our generation
doing, particularly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, I’d say you were crazy, but that’s where we are.

That’s this generation’s responsibility. And we have to confront, we cannot (be) [unsure]

Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate for president in 2024.

Trump and his Republican allies are actively preparing to ensure his victory
by whatever means necessary.

Some Republican candidates have already begun preparing to declare fraud in 2022.

Republican state officials who effectively saved the country from calamity by refusing
to falsely declare fraud or to “find” more votes for Trump are being systematically
removed or hounded from office.

The stage is being set for chaos.

Trump came close to bringing off a coup earlier this year.

All that prevented it was a handful of state officials with notable courage and integrity
and the reluctance of two attorneys general and a vice president to obey orders
they deemed inappropriate.

These were not the checks and balances the Framers had in mind when they designed
the Constitution, of course, but Trump has exposed the inadequacy of those protections
The Founders did not foresee the Trump phenomenon, in part because they did not
foresee national parties.

They anticipated the threat of a demagogue, but not of a national cult of personality.

The Framers did not establish safeguards against the possibility that national-party
solidarity would transcend state boundaries because they did not imagine such a thing
was possible. Nor did they foresee that members of Congress, and perhaps members
of the judicial branch, too, would refuse to check the power of a president from their
own party.

The reality is that the GOP has barely budged in terms of ideology. The Dems, however, have lurched far, far to the Left.

The reality is exactly the reverse. The GOP has evolved into an ideological party while the Dems remain a coalition of interest groups.

The party is a fairly good mix of moderates and progressives...even a few conservatives. That happens when equal rights is a huge policy agenda

Susan Collins Delivers Mitch McConnell's Debt Ceiling Ransom Note

October 4, 2021

There is nothing about the American economy right now that is not fixable,
but a failure to raise the debt ceiling would be an all-time self own just for
the opportunity to weaken Democratic prospects in the midterms.

Except it is clear it is Republicans deliberately holding the economy hostage, right?

Biden's reached out to Republicans beyond McConnell; he called Sen. Susan Collins
last week to congratulate the Mainer on her successful proposal to aid victims
of directed-energy attacks. But she said they didn’t even discuss the debt ceiling.
“Republicans would vote to suspend the debt ceiling through the end of next year
if the president abandoned the plans for this $3.5 trillion [bill],” Collins said
in an interview.

- Daily Kos

October 4, 2021

The Senate minority leader on Monday morning prodded the president
to talk his party into raising the debt ceiling without the GOP - the first step
in what may become a complicated back-and-forth.

McConnell has warned for months that he won't supply the votes to raise the nation's
borrowing limit even as the risk of a U.S. default spikes, and he reiterated in a new
letter to Biden that he won't help Democrats out of the jam.

Biden argued Monday that Republicans were being hypocritical and irresponsible
with their stance on the debt ceiling.

Republicans in Congress raised the debt three times when Donald Trump was president !
- and each time with Democrat support, but now they won’t raise it, even though
they’re responsible for more than $8 trillion of bills incurred in four years under
the previous administration.
