His point was that we are going back to segregation with the National Anthem bullshit. He said we should either have one anthem or no anthems sung at events. We can't have two "National" Anthems because it's a fucking NATIONAL Anthem. Great segment. Some people are too dumb-dumb to get it.

If some black people want to have a separate national anthem then good for them, but as much as it may infuriate the likes of you, black people are not one homogenous group; many of them would just prefer to stick to the traditional national anthem.

By the way, for national events, which anthem should be played...both?

The problem with people like Bill Maher is that they make a pithy remark on an issue when they know the reality of the matter is quite complex and nuanced. The reality in this case is that there is ZERO chance that the powers that be are going to stop playing the "SSB", and that those who justifiably find the "SSB" objectionable either have to silently fume every time it's played, or take some solace from the compromise that is being offered by the decision to also play "LEVAS". Until a better solution or anthem is settled upon, the compromise of playing both songs seems reasonable.

Sure there might be a significant number of people that would be fine with NO anthems being played(myself included), but their voices currently do not hold sway.

If America had a national anthem that was worthy of ALL its people, then there would be no need for this important discussion. Sadly, that is not the reality of the situation.

I get the OP's point. Four hundred years of systemic abuse are going to have an effect, whether the rest of us like it or not. And the sad truth is, there's no way to resolve that quickly, especially not when a depressingly large share of Americans want to bury that history.
