Like I said before, marching into the sea would definitely appease most of the "Palestinians." But IIRC, the Hamas charter still demands the destruction of Israel and the extermination of all Jews worldwide. Not a good negotiating partner, they.

Dropping that, and discontinuing any attacks, would never be enough to get the Israelis out of the OTs, and the Palestinians know it.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a monumental headache for everybody. It complicates every country's relations with any country in the Islamic world. It is a stated pretext for state-sponsored antisemitism in some countries. Anything that brings it closer to a just and satisfactory resolution is worth doing, and there are only two resolutions possible that so qualify: A one-state solution, and a two-state solution. If the Israelis simply annex the OTs and give voting citizenship to their residents, that would satisfy the whole world. If the Israelis grant them independence -- real independence, with the option to have their own armed forces -- that would satisfy the whole world. Let them get off the dime and do one or the other.

I don't hate Israel, but they have full capability to protect themselves with or without our involvement.. They don't need our money and we could use it towards our own military much better.
