I believe the problem is one that you can’t fix: you are male! I’ve seen the best written posts by men that get one or two authentic replies from women. On the other hand, a post by a woman will be flooded with responses and the poor girl’s inbox will be instantly filled to capacity within hours (or minutes) of the post. Same as the chat rooms. It seems that women definitely have the upper hand when it comes to choosing whom to chat with. Anyway, hope you find a love connection, dude!

I think you hit on it Laura. Most men here want to go straight to private messaging for anything. I think it would be fun to flirt and play off of one another in a thread, but men appear to have a different opinion.

All men or men in general because that just wouldn’t be accurate. It’s my opinion on this subject matter is it’s the Lit cheaters that are quick to want the PM rather then the open thread flirting.

**note** Lit cheater defined as males that have PM Lit Relationships with the usual lit female suspects that have been here forever and a day.

IMO, Some men or women seem to want to PM cause they dont like to engage in some of the threads. They seemed to like to be more personal about things ,private in conversation vs the world. Dont want to let their feelings open , or their opinions to be on a thread. I do the same on threads, would rather PM than to take over someone's thread. You can control a Pm by shutting down sexual talk if your not looking for that. I tend to say Hello to people in a Pm .Checked on a friend living in California cause of the fires to see if ok.
So i think it depends on the thread.
Friends are like Resume's you put out a 100 and get 2 back, those are your friends.

As I read your reply and thought about it, I don't think saying "most men" is accurate either. The more I think about it, it's probably much less a number. There probably is a solid group of men who will PM for anything. And you may be right in that it's the "Lit cheaters".

My opinion is that PM's can be a pressure. Often men (who never post but PM randomly and often,) do not strike me as too shy....reading some of these PMs, "shy or private" would not cross my mind...Of course, honest nerves is its own problem.

This is not intended as a "hook-up thread" I am hoping for some harmless flirting amongst insomniacs, maybe have a thread that would have a bit of activity late at night.
So, we could talk about what keeps us awake or other things that connect us.
