If Seatbelts Were Introduced In 2021

Strawmen, ascription and outright lies are all Rob has.

I can see the strawman and ascription from your point of view, but how is it lies?

Are you saying if seatbelts were introduced now right wingers would accept them without complaint?

Entertaining meme.

Doe's anyone besides me remember how long it took (state by state) for the use of them to become mandatory though? 1968 (the first federal law to require, not their use, but their being in cars) to 1996 (when the last state went to mandatory seat belt usage.

There was a lot of resistance for a wide variety of reasons, including bumper stickers and assorted crazed rants. I was a cop during the adoption period and it wasn't unusual for people to actively give you shit if you ticketed them for no seatbelts and official "warning only" direction from upper leadership. (Only give them a verbal warning.)

This particular case isn't a lie, outside of the fact that it is a strawman.

I'm sure some would, but most wouldn't...... as evidenced by the fact that most didn't and put their seatbelt on.

Not that it would stop the MSM/(D)'eez from finding some carpenter from backwater Alaska who bitched about it and tried to paint anyone who's not a registered (D) as terrorist for his tweet.

I wear mine, it's a good idea. I don't see why they are mandatory for adults, though.

The key issue would be if "librals" introduced the seatbelt laws, I think. Sticking it to the "librals" is the key goal of any seditionist rightist, isn't it?

.
Adherence to seatbelt use or Covid mitigation protocols were NEVER soley about protecting the cost to the individual, but rather the TOTAL cost to the whole of society. Aside from the ultimate cost of death, the increased cost of severe injury in the case of seatbelts, and the increased cost of severe illness in the case of Covid, make the argument about "individual freedom" involving both issues a non-starter.

Pfft to the good of society, say the seditionist rightists and board Trumpettes. Does it poke the "librals" or not? That's the only thing that matters. Is it something that's going to kill me or my kids? Pfft to that. Does it poke the "librals" or not?

It's only through the mechanism of the welfare state that "society" bears any of the cost of either the injured driver who didn't buckle up or the covid sufferer who didn't get vaxxed. It's the system the Left put in place on the assurance that it was kind and progressive. Now we see the inevitable coercion that invariably comes with your open-hearted programs, the iron fist in the velvet glove.

Dismatle the welfare state and no problem exists. It only exists because of you.
