What counts as a view?

My first attempt at a sex story has a low view count after 3 weeks. I'm curious about what literotica's software considers a "view" of submissions - is it automatically counted when you click on the title of a submission, or do you have to read all the way to the end of the story? Or keep that page open for a certain amount of time?

There are algorithums in place and how they work is a closely guarded secret but views and ratings are counted if they meet opening and duration criteria. This prevents tolls and other evil doers from just clicking open and giving a 1 rating just to trash the score.

A good way to get views beside the rating is to have good search tags.

I didnt view it. Put me down as zero. :)

His most recent is 1.8k words long. It's not that bad, I've certainly read stuff that's tons worse here on Lit, but it merits it's current rating.

As for views, Fetish and BDSM are among the lowest view-rate story sections and it doesn't take but 1 troll with a VPN to kill your rating. Which knocks you off the board in reader interest. There just aren't enough fans to offset the trolls.

Incest is very active with the best readership feedback response I've found so far. Do it right and they'll be asking for more. And more. And more. And...

What are your number of views? My last story has been up about 3 weeks, with 28,689 views in the Incest/taboo category. But another one of mine has been up for 10 months and sits at 9600 views in the BDSM category. In my experience, the title, category, tags you place on the story, and short description is what initially drive the number of viewers. Then the rating also helps too. Three of my highest viewed stories didn't fare that well on ratings, at 4.07. 3.95, & 3.88, but they dominate my views. They are non-consent/reluctance. And my numbers pale to the writers with all RED H's on their listings.

A 'view' is counted if someone opens the first page of a story.

They might not read a word. They might be a search bot. Views mean nothing really except to compare how attractive your story's title was.

When I look at my stories I can see a direct correlation between the rating and the view count. Of course there are a lot of stories here that I think are completely idiotic that have high ratings and big view count. People really like nonsense and fantasies.

Apparently that's what you write, posts here on the board included.
