Hayley Mills

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought she had died. Glad this wasn't the case.

Seems like an unusual celebrity to discuss at Literotica.

The thing I never understood about Hayley Mills in The Parent Trap, her most famous role, is she plays two American girls and she speaks with a British accent. It makes no sense at all.

That somehow never bothered me.

Oddly enough, the first role of hers that comes to mind is Miss Bliss.

In the remake wiith Lindsy Lohan they explain it by having one of the twins grow up in London.

Me? I always preferred "The Patty Duke" show even though they were identical cousins not sisters to avoid a lawsuit from Disney and David Swift the movie's screenwriter/director.

It looks like financial planning wasn't a big thing in her circle.

some of us might admit to her being their first crush...

Thank goodness. I thought I was going to open this thread to read that she had passed.

Maybe I shouldn't admit this... but I had to read this thread, the article and IMDB to learn who this person is and why anyone might remember her.

Yeah, I've heard of The Parent Trap but I've never seen it nor did it trigger any interest in me caring about it, despite having been a child in the 1960s. And her other work I'm utterly unaware of.

Something I keep in mind when I drop real life references into my stories. Just because I have deep memories of Vanishing Point ("it was a 440 Magnum, I saw the decal!") doesn't mean anyone else does.

I never saw her version of Pollyanna, but when my older sister and I were in grade school the local theaters gave out Saturday matinee tickets to anyone on the honor roll. We saw "In Search of the Castaways" that way (movie based on a Jules Verne novel) and I'll never get over the crush I had on her.

I hadn't realized that "In Search of the Castaways" was a Jules Verne story until I found the movie on IMDb. Being honest with myself, Jules Verne might be my all-time favorite author. It's not just that I like his dated stories, but that I love so many of the movies, cartoons, and TV shows that spun off them.

Hmmm, I never thought of Hayley Mills as someone anyone would have a crush on.

I've never heard of her either. But we don't watch old Disney stuff, other than some ScFy. 20,000 leagues under the sea, Black Hole, Tron. But not the computer wore tennis shoes.

Maybe I didn't think about her much at all. I had a crush on Elizabeth Taylor. (and, later, Paul Newman.)

I get that. Perfectly legit. She was before my time, and I somehow avoided ever seeing The Parent Trap until I was in my 30s or 40s. She was definitely NOT crush material at that point.
