Where's the downside? It seems to work amazingly well in all the countries that have tried it. Look around the world at all the countries where things in general are generally agreed to go better than in the U.S. -- less poverty, higher quality of life -- they're all social democracies.

Losing my shit and becoming a slave to the state.

Cool....try it in some states here in the US that want the same.

Don't care, prefer freedom.

They're all being defended by us and we have a unique Constitutional system that precludes absolute democracy (mob Rule).

Never heard of any Swede or Dane complaining he is a slave to the state.

Their preference for slavery doesn't make it not slavery.

LOL.... yea, that flips houses in California and buys the big house on the lake.

They actually.come up with words for how happy they are in these countries.

What words has Bobo come up with...."shithole"

WillJ won't go though....besides, even if he did, they have immigration laws!!! And that's RACIST!! :D

How, then, do you distinguish acceptable taxation from slavery?

Possibly by reducing the size of government by half and by making the present military the overwhelming number of government employees.

No, but it gives them a lot more money to hand out to their lazy citizens.

If they have to pay for their own defense -- and come to think of it, they don't really need any -- they'll still be social democracies.

All these jackasses that blab off about Sweden, Denmark, et al have this concept in their head that is far from the reality of those nations.

Sweden is FAR from being 'socialist.' They tax the shit out of the middle class while levying very light taxes on the corporations and high earners. They know who the fuck creates the jobs and who ends up paying the taxes in the end anyway. (Hint for you SFB's, businesses don't pay taxes. They collect the monies from your ignorant asses and pass it on to the government.) At least their politicians are out front about that.

As pointed out by rightguide, they have been able to spend next to nothing on their defense budgets in that they all squeeze in under our umbrella.

They have also tightened their immigration policies/laws and enforce them. Twenty years of bad experiences with non-European immigrates has taught them a lesson. A lesson that we'd do well to pay attention to.

You really need to pull your head out of Robby boy’s ass, you’re starting to sound like him.

I keep trying to tell you that I don't.

They are the same thing.

The subjective deeming of some as "acceptable" doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day you're taking my labor by force, under threat of violence. :)

Taxation is legal and Constitutional.
Slavery is illegal and Unconstitutional.

They are most certainly NOT the same thing.
