circumcision

well i understand this

my point is why would they make those choices in america 2021 and i guess it's mostly down to aesthetics, cultivated by cultural 'norms'

So Jr can look like Pops and they can enjoy their cornflakes together while abstaining from jacking off.

Started out as the usual conservative style hysteria and through time it became all about matching penises between generations.

something i've come across 3 times in the past: the half cut.

all three guys had it done as adults. they basically just cut off the end of the foreskin so that the tip of the head is permanently exposed. one guy had it done for aesthetic reasons, before he'd had a really long foreskin that was lopsided, much longer at the bottom than the top. i knew him before and after and it certainly did look better after the trim. the other 2 guys both had it done because the opening of the foreskin was too small to allow retraction. i thought it was interesting that all three, after having grown up with a hood, decided to keep as much as possible.

why, in modern-day america, is it still considered the norm to disfigure male genitalia by circumcision?

penises come with a foreskin to protect the glans, so why go chopping it off your babies?

Thers a pretty good study out there in support of circumcision.

Also, I take exception with the term "disfigure". I'm not going to debate aesthetics, but I've actually had several women who definitely preferred the cut look and made it known to me.

I've also never had a problem with "sensitivity" as far as I can tell. I was told I last longer than a lot of guys, but I always attributed that to a conscious effort and self control. Hmmmm.

Yup, that about nails the foreskin to the door for me.

Me: Kinda sucks to make that decision to circumcise for a kid who can't have a say.
Also me: We're begging doctors to perform this procedure by constantly demonstrating we can't be trusted with our own hygiene. Hell, we won't even wear masks on the chance it'll protect someone else from a deadly disease.
I wonder if Florida has a high proportion of circumcised men

You and Adre need to cite your good studies. I don't think we bother with studies in the UK but maybe Cosmo and Marie Claire have run some twaddle research?

Most of the cut guys I've seen in porn look like their dick's been burned, with the scar still visible. I've only seen one dick that was cut and I've no idea what the proportion is over here.

Why does an octogenarian have this on her mind?

Slow day at the farm? Genitalia and b****s used to never be accepted here in polite or other conversations. You need better hobbies. Go play with the Harry anteater.

You're really expecting Americans in 2021 to make any goddamn sense?

Why? It could be numerous reasons. Does it need to be done, no.

I blame the doctor for not telling parents that there are other options.

Half cut means drunk over here!

but you know the hygiene thing just isn't a thing in today's america. as for preferences, is it a case of what people are used to?

I've never felt especially strongly on this issue even though it cuts:cool:close to home, but I do get annoyed by people who bring up cleanliness as part of the pro-circumcision argument. Just admit that it's a preference and has nothing to do with health or it somehow being "cleaner." The same kind of language is used to promote pubic hair removal, and it's not honest there either.

95% of the world is not circumcised, but reasons include.

Americans do it because it is a requirement of Sharia law. Moslems are usually cut between the ages of 7 and 14.

Americans are unfamiliar with soap and water.

Doctors are paid a fee, so obviously they recommend it.

Circumcision is a political objective for Progressive American females to ritually emasculate the lesser gender, because circumcised men grow smaller dicks.

That prolly covers it. :)

When our son was born the fanatic nursing hippy lady comes around to preach about breastfeeding but never discuss circumcising with the same degree of passion or insistence. When I asked why they just said religious ideology is not their thing since to most that’s the only reasons for it. The pediatrician strongly recommended it and the rest is history. When my son gets older he may or may not ask. I’m not among those who feel it’s abuse and it’s our job as parents to decide what’s best. If the day comes when the infant can decide for itself than perhaps we can have sensible discussion on it.

You're going to hate hearing this, but pediatricians recommend it because they can't count on parents to clean the foreskin and glans properly and consistently.

it's just so common. i never had to make the decision as a mamma and i feel like it would be difficult to for me to give consent. what if they mess up? it's a risk.

Also... the existance foreskin cuts into fleshlight sales.

Circumcision in the US came into vogue big time during WWII. Most men entering the military during that period had it done for "cleanliness" purposes. I talked to more than a few veterans who were circumcised as adults when they went into the military. I don't know what the policy is now but as late as 1969 (when I was inducted) the military was still trying to sell that concept. Thankfully by that time, it was voluntary and I had a doctor that was uncircumcised and advised me to refuse it, which I did.

The cleanliness issue came about because of the cheesy substance (smegma) that builds up under the foreskin if it isn't washed regularly. The popular concept is that that is an accumulation of bodily byproducts, a buildup of filth if you will. In actuality that substance is produced by the male body as a protectant and lubricate for the penis. In essence it isn't going to make your dick rot and fall off but is actually a form of protection. If you don't shower or bathe regularly it will build up. So I guess if you want to attract a female by not showering for a few weeks and have an uncut dick, you will have an accumulation of it. Good luck with attracting a mate.

The foreskin is there to protect the glans of the penis. When the foreskin is cut away it exposes the glans which after a time become desensitized by exposure. That and the scar tissue left by the operation reduces the sensitivity of the penis significantly.

The folds of the labia on a female act much like the foreskin of a penis to protect the more sensitive parts. So if it's so appropriate to do to a male, why don't we trim the clitoral hood and labia on a woman for the same reason? Doesn't make sense huh?

It's a bullshit custom that has no grounding in science.

Well, can't say that I miss what I never remember having. And it's pretty sensitive enough as is, 'specially when the horny times come. Had I not been snipped, reckon I'd still love it just as well.

Bottom line, it's healthy and works, does the job and to date have had no aesthetic or performance complaints from lovers. I remain eternally thankful under our Lord Priapus' continuous blessings.

You obviously have the Internet, so finding the research that shows the benefits of circumcision in the reduction of acquiring and transferring STDs is readily available via a simple search. I refuse to cite because many people often just dismiss the source of the cite.(This is not an attack on you, but more of an anti-frustration defense for myself)..

The article I read cited increased opportunities for foreskin tears during sex, and the warm, damp environment provided by the foreskin. The article also pointed out that condoms solved many of those issues.

Appearance was never mentioned, nor was reduced sensitivity.

typical sexism. FGM is considered barbaric, but MGM (might need a better abv) isn't ?

Comparing surgical circumcision, with its proven benefit to reduce the aquisition and transmission of STDs, to FGM does grave injury to the fight against FGM.

The two are not even close to being comparable. If male circumcision cut off the glans, that would be comparable. (Yeah, like that would ever be allowed to happen by men in any culture ).

There is also zero health benefits, and multiple health risks associated with FGM.
