Sad, but he was 80 and lived a hell of a life. That's a ripe age for a rocker who I'm sure wasn't exactly a poster boy for clean living in his younger years.

You're creeping up on that age yourself, Simon, old manRIP. One of the greats. Amazing how long that band kept playing. I saw them over 20 years ago and they were old then.

Something involving surgery or treatment, if you read between the (very few) lines. Which generally suggests heart or cancer.I just wondering if they will say the cause was due to Covid. Then I would like to know if he was vaccinated.
That seems to be the overall feel on the guy - not so much rock-n-roll excess, more putting up with it. He must have had the tolerance of a saint to put up with the Glimmer Twins for all those years.According to a friend of mine who knew him, Charlie led a remarkably un-rock 'n' roll life.![]()

I don't think anyone ever imagined the Stones would be the longest lived band of all time. I can't think of anyone who's got close - other than The Who, but they've only been half a band for a while now.
