House members are elected from smaller districts and that's why you can get far left radicals like the squad. Overall these extremists are a small segment of a state's population. Senators have to be a little more moderate because they have to appeal to people across the state.

Liz Cheney was the heir apparent for the Bush neo-cons that ran the party and were pushed out. She's not fighting for America, she's fighting for the establishment. Trump left a lot to be desired but the people are tired of the same failed establishment politics of the last 50 years and wanted something different. There will be other Trumps. Hopefully they are smarter and not as impulsive.
