Are you monogamous?
Non monogamous?
I just don't believe people are monogamous by nature.

Women are. With nine months and then a dependent child, they need stability.
Men are not. Propagation of the species compels them to broadcast their sperm.
i was monogamous. then i was non-monogamous. now, i'm celibate by choice and it's all a lot easier.

I do not think women are monogamous by nature either. Society thinks they should be so most women claim to be. Just look at all the cheating that goes on. When they get pregnant, their focus changes but once the child is out and starting to grow, they start thinking about sex again.
That's the point. When they get pregnant, they need a support system in place.
The father usually seems to be one go the go-to sources of support.
It's the recent introduction of reliable and safe birth control
that has "changed" that basic human dynamic...

Non here. We love being swingers and being able to be far more open with sex.[
Good for you. Sounds like a great perspective.
People are whatever they personally choose to be. We are the only species capable of that.
You can say a particular animal is or is not monogamous but when dealing with humans it's not nearly as cut and dried. Both have been and continue to be successful with the right group of people.
People do what they are taught. Monogamy has been taught to us. So most comply. But look at the divorce rate. Most people are cereal monogamous at best.
I'm not really sure this covers it completely.
Pregnant mothers and mothers of newborns need a support system, but that doesn't mean it has to be provided by the father. In the wild, that system consists of the colony. In modern human society it's made up of family, social safety nets, and charity. Neither system ensures survival but it does increase the odds.
Modern birth control is the latest method used to prevent conception but it's not the reason for sexual proclivity. People have been screwing their neighbors for eons and we have words for it - whore and cuckold are 2 examples but there are others and an exhaustive list isn't necessary.
This thread makes me want to drink absinthe in excess.
Outside of our bigger cities, we're not in the wild...

... for that population which struggles with birth control
there is no family, they are generally estranged form community and
have little trust in government or charities. We have an almost feral sub-population.
You can force them to attend K-12 education, but you cannot make them learn when
they believe that that is just another institution to not be trusted or
has no bearing on their lives.
Fixed for you just so you know we care.

My wife and I are a hotwife couple. I’m monogamous. She is not!
