Terrific interview with data-driven journalist Alex Berenson. His take on:

Why is the Pfizer vaccine failing in Israel?

Why are cases surging in highly the vaccinated states of Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico?

What’s next for Florida and the south?

What’s in store this fall for the Midwest and Northeast?

How much risk does the Delta variant pose to children?

They aren't failing. The have less transmission efficacy for Delta than for the original strain.

Cases != severe illness from the virus.

Listen to the interview. Gets into why vaccinated people are outpacing unvaccinated hospitalizations in Israel and much more. Berenson’s reporting has been excellent.

I don't need to. The actual data and analysis by actual immunologists agree that the vaccine works.

Unvaxxed in the US are, by far, the ones in the hospital.

Vaxxed who reach that stage have shown to mostly be people with other underlying conditions.

Having data/information is not the same thing as having knowledge.

Two things can be true at the same time. Yes, unvaxxed far outnumber vaxxed people in the hospital in the US. The opposite is now true in Israel. Yes, the efficacy of vaccines is lower among elderly and people with underlying conditions. And it’s true that Fauci and others are now telegraphing their view that the mRNA vaccines efficacy diminishes after a few months for everyone, not just the vulnerable.

How many died this year.

I have no idea, but the percentage of unvaccinated people admitted to hospitals for Covid19 is 93%.

Why do you suppose people are not getting vaccinated? It seems very irresponsible to me.

Now show us the same hospitalization data for Israel which is among the most vaccinated major country in the world.

The virus is gonna virus. There is a seasonality and geographic component, but it does what it does. The Midwest, northeast, west coast are gonna see big waves as we enter the fall.

We’re all gonna get it sooner or later. The good news is each wave is less fatal than prior waves. It’s here to stay. Eventually it will be endemic like the flu because it won’t be novel any more.

Absolutely..the actual reasoning is not that the vax is not effective, but that proportionally, there are more vaxxed.

As for efficacy over time, no one had any data to factually present data regarding that dataset.

And even less so in regards to variants.

Experts could only guess based on early data ...and as more data arrives, that speculation is refined.

Why do you suppose the percentage of vaccinated people hospitalized in Israel outpacing the percentage of unvaccinated? (Shhhhh. In the link I shared, Alex Berenson shares some data that points to the answer, but please ignore it.)

Which immunologists did Mr Berenson consult for his reporting?

Hey, he majored in history and economics, he knows more than fauci and all others who dedicated their lives to studying virus'.
Be a trumptard and just believe!

If you had listened, you’d know. His Israel and UK data comes from their national health agencies. The US data he cites comes from state health agencies, which he notes is of varying quality.

His citation of Fauci’s interview statement is on the record and has been widely reported. He does not claim to be anything other than a journalist which is why he only cites data provided by public health entities as well as research and statements from Fauci and others with relevant credentials in the field of epidemiology.

I'm sure he is a stellar chap. The subject line conclusion is incorrect, as there has not been a demonstration that the vaccine is failing. The majority of those with severe illness due to Covid (any variant) continue to be unvaxxed.

It's also how viruses work.

Think of the vaccine as a screen.

It stops a high percentage of the alpha strain and lesser percentages of other strains, because it was initially developed targeting the alpha strain and the farther the mutations get from the alpha strain the less effective they are.

So, on the far side of the screen you have only those virus variations that are able to escape the screen - which then replicate and spread. As the variants spread, cases increase, including among the vaccinated (who are now encountering variants that are more capable of surviving in spite of the vaccine).

The same way flu works, which is why we need a yearly flu shot which is based on the "best guess" of which flu strain will be prevalent.

“Failure” is used subjectively in the title of this thread, so I have no problem with you disagreeing with it. Perhaps “not as well as expected” would be a more appropriate characterization of vaccine efficacy. What we’re seeing in Israel is what it is.

The efficacy against the original strain is as advertised. Against variants, the effectiveness continues to be incredibly high for severe reaction.

There are truly two aspects that vaccines strive for:
1. severe reaction reduction - this is the main goal overall. If a vaccine misses the mark on this, it's typically discarded early in trials
2. Infection rate - less of a priority, but the original strain infection rate was addressed well. Delta is still around 80% in results I've seen. A few outliers have indicated lower for one vaccines, as you mention, though still sufficient.....masks help to address gaps as well as less gatherings of groups of people would help.
