Who is at fault, Rs, Ds, or both? Why didn't the US learn from the Nam disaster that we can't manufacture a will to fight?

Why don't we just drop missiles on these rat fuckers?

It's not the will to fight that's lacking.

It's the puss puss pol's who are scared "what will others think of us??!" any war predicated on that is already lost.

Why not? IT'S RACIST!!! BOO HOO!!! It would upset (D)eez the nation over if we hurt THE POOR TERRORIST!!! Their comrades and friends. :D

This was twenty years of kicking the "can't fix" can down the road. I would do some things differently from the Biden administration on the pullout, but a salute to him for just stopping the American bleeding in the face of the outcome being inevitable from the get go. The Afghans had twenty years of American support in establishing themselves without primitive Taliban control and they didn't do it. Historically, this is an American defeat only in having entered it to begin with. No one else has done any better, or tried to humanize the area harder.

Both. But those blaming Biden need to remember...it was the Trump Administration that signed the withdrawal agreement with the Taliban. Part of that agreement...we leave by a certain date and the Taliban will stop targeting both American and coalition forces. They have kept their promise. If we don't leave...the target is right back on our men and women's back...and we will be fighting another 20 years and still lose.

Furthermore...this is in Pakistan's court. They harbored these groups. Why any US funds goes to that shithole is beyond me.

I agree on the pullout. After another 5-10 years we would have been the same result.

Yeah, we are only there for the oil. It would be nice if we weren't so oil-dependent.

We were less oil dependent under Trump, you know before Biden destroyed our domestic/Canadian supplies and there isn't much oil in Afghanistan..... JFC you're ignorant as shit.

No wonder you're a (D)emocrap.

Since I was a kid I've been hearing that the next war will be a push-button war. Obviously, that's not true. I think I remember that Bill Clinton did or planned to fire some cruise missiles at bin Laden. That seems like a good idea to me. Drones and missiles. What's the point of having the technology if we don't use it?

Half the country still lives in the stone age, a full invasion was stupid in the first place.

i blame (t-word). in fact, i blame (t-word) for everything including the lindbergh kidnapping. it saves time and probably bears some validity, no matter what subject.

America's apologetic approach to war is the problem...we can't simply go in, kill the enemy and break all their shit, we have to stick around and pretend we can rebuild their society, too.

Oderint dum metuant should be our guiding principle.

Sarcasm or serious?

President Biden is wisely getting the US out of a country that won't fight for western style democracy and human rights.

Thanks President Biden!!!

Odd, coming from a leftist who reviles Western civilization in much the same way. It's the basis for the Red/Green alliance, after all.

Dead serious. Shit, it's so obvious that they even made a movie about it decades ago.

But that's exactly what we did, entered the country, killed the bad guys, and spent 20 years building the country the military.

How long should we stay and what do you think would have changed if we stayed another 20 years?

We didn't do nearly enough of the former before we launched into the latter, which we never, ever should have undertaken.

Pud is confused about who is the decent patriotic American here.

(Hint: It isn't Pud)
