Hi,

Does anyone know how many stories Lit publishes a year?

Estimates are fine.

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't really know. I monitored total stories published for seven or eight months in 2017, and they averaged eighty-two stories a day. Annualized, it would have come out to about 30,000 stories/year.

The site contains about a half million stories, and of course many stories that were once published have since been removed, but a half million stories over what, twenty four years? is 21,000 stories/year.

The number of stories per day has been very high since the start of the pandemic. I check the count now and then, and it seems to average something like 130 stories/day, which comes out to about 47,000 stories/year.

Using the Search Stories / Advance Search option and searching for all the stories from the last year that contain the text " " (a space, you have to search for something) returns 43892 stories, which is in the same ballpark as NotWise's estimate.

I’d like to see the list of stories on the first page in each section increased from 25 to 40, or maybe even 50. Too many stories fall off the page too soon, particularly in the popular categories, and it would give more time for new writers to get their story seen.

I only have 12 right now. I have others in the works for here. I pulled all my work down here several years back and only rejoined recently.

Are you still using the old interface? The new interface lists just ten stories, but you can expand the list and it shows you everything from the last week.

I've thought about Facebook postings with links on my writers page there, and twitter postings could help. However, I don't know how much effect twitter has. I have experimented with post promoting works for sale at Smashwords or Amazon on both. Had some success but I'm not sure if it would help on Literotic.

What y'all think about such brazen self promotion? :D

Old interface? New interface? No idea. I’ve not heard of a new interface. When did that happen? I only use my pc for Lit when I’m submitting a story. For everything else I use my iPhone. Maybe that makes a difference? I bring up the website, go to stories and pics, choose the category and the new list comes up with 25 stories. From what’s been said there’s another way of getting to the new stories?

From what I gather FB is not all that great, especially because they get touchy with porn and you could get the posts deleted.

Twitter does have some effectiveness, but like anything else its how big of a following you have, how often do you tweet, etc...

Because I sell erotica, I never tweet links to my free stuff, it would be counter productive, but I've noticed after I tweet a link for a new book I see a few sales, and anything helps

I haven't seen the old user interface in a long time. Somewhere on it there should be a link to opt into the public beta testing of the new interface.

I don't push porn, I push a story title, just the title with s short description of the story. It doesn't have to have sex in the title or description for people that follow an erotic writer to the story is what they want to read.

The description on one story included the line, A tasty tale of a bizarre romance with an erotic twist. another had the line, A different kind of threesome. Neither were deleted. I even had paid advertising on the ones that promoted my Amazon stories. If a cover works for Amazon it works for FB. Just can't say sex, fucking or anything like that.

I haven't published any erotica for sale since I started doing ghostwriting. So been a year and half since anything new went up, at least.
