DOJ drops case of Vermont hospital allegedly forcing nurse to participate in abortion

Filed on Friday, the DOJ's notice of dismissal in Vermont's district court came months after the Trump administration brought the suit. The brief notice doesn't offer much by way of explanation, but rather reads: "Defendant University of Vermont Medical Center has not served an answer or motion for summary judgment in this action. The United States accordingly notices voluntary dismissal of this action, without prejudice."

"I think that's just outrageous, and I can't believe the Justice Department dropped the lawsuit. Setting the morality aside, the law is clear," he said. He was referring to the Church amendment, which was passed after the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.

So much for a fair and impartial DOJ.

You give D-bags a little bit of power, and they go nuts with their Radical, anti-American Agenda.

The only Church Amendment I can find is about U.S. military activity in Laos and Cambodia.

It's a standard medical procedure. Either you practice medicine or you practice religion. Pick one.

It's not clear from the story what was the nature of the lawsuit or what side the DOJ was on, and it's still not clear whether the RW is mad because the suit was brought or because it was dropped.

Ok, doesn't change my statement. If you want to follow religion in your job, work at a Church.

If you can't perform the duties of your job because of your religion, choose a different career.

It's going to be up to the court. The Amendment by Church, a left wing Democrat, simply recognizes the First Amendment right to religion as it does the alleged right of abortion, which was only assumed in a penumbra that theoretically exists in 14th Amendment.

I see facts aren't worth preserving if they get in your way.

The fact is that this Church Amendment provides a legal excuse for a health-care provider not to participate in abortion, regardless of the patient's needs. We don't need that.

And I don't believe there is a single "pro-life" poster on this board who really cares at all about the life of a fetus.

That's because you're a baby-killer, peckersniffer.
