See here. Carlson responded to Biden's charges that Trump's Big Lie was the greatest threat to American democracy in 160 years with, "What about the 1965 Immigration Act?!"

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was the act that overturned the Immigration Act of 1924, which established a national-origins-quota system that favored Northwest European immigrants over all others; the express stated intent was to preserve America's character as a white country. Since 1965 we've been receiving immigrants from all over the world, mainly Latin America and Asia, but also from Africa.

How is this a threat to democracy?

Carlson specifically said, "That law completely changed the composition of America's voter rolls, purely to benefit the Democratic Party." Don't know about that -- Asians aren't particularly pro-Dem, and Latinos are culturally conservative, and showed in the last election that the Dems can't count on their vote.

Tucker is just using the term "democracy" the same way (D)eez do.....

"democracy" = getting your way.

So, it's a threat to democracy as far as the RW is concerned.

.
What a surprise; BoBo toeing the white supremacist line.

SAD!!!

The 1965 Immigration Act is where “chain migration” came from.

But how is that a threat to democracy?
Chain migration is a neutral term. It’s a good example of government promoting family values. It’s only a threat to those who feel unfairly competed against, like the person hoping to work in a Chinese restaurant who isn’t part of the owner’s family.

There were immigration controls before 1965 and after, only the rules were different.

Could also have happened under the 1924 system.

Yes, the rules were different. Thus the problem.

Obviously, you prefer authoritarian rule, and hate freedom.

How do you figure? Or are you just talking more shit, completely incapable of putting anything together to back that statement up??

LOL....we alreayd know phro, it's ok lil guy. :D

There has long been a Libertarian Party faction demanding a constitutional amendment which would read in toto, "Abolish welfare and we can enjoy open borders."

Fixed your post.

Also, good thing I'm no libertarian.

I can't speak to what Carlson was thinking, but the Republicans have a long history of, sooner or later, driving ALL people of color except Cubans into the Democrats' arms with their racism. So it IS true that the changes caused by the Immigration Act have benefitted the Dems in a way, but not through any actions on their own part.

Different only in that they no longer favored Northwest Euros over other immigrants. That change isn't really a problem, is it?

In some cases no, but for the most part yes.

Is also a contributing factor to the USA coming apart now.
