"The Great Resignation" .... employees are starting to understand their power

Some 4 million and 3.4 million resignations in May and June by some estimates.

Employees, after having time to actually think about what is best for themselves, are reshaping the job market. I think for the better.

Are my neck of the woods, Wawa(similar 7-11 or Sheetz) is offer $500.00.signing bonuses for employees.

For too long employers have undervalued, not listened to and treated badly low wage employees. Those days are over for the moment.

A result of the welfare state.

Take all that sweet ass welfare away and watch mother fuckers get back to work real god damn fast.

Just more inflation coming. :) fucking working class wage slaves the hardest.

and clearly believes slavery to be a grand ole thang

what so many employers are willfully ignoring is the fact a lot of their staff saw for themselves how they weren't protected from spitting, violent, slur-hurling, covid-breeding anti-masker customers and were expected to take it all at a basic wage

now they want a better wage for putting up with shit or they'll look for work someplace else

Employers seem to think that the marketplace of employees is static again, that we're back to "business as usual".

We're not.

Employees endured the former guy's virus mishandling came away with an improved "sense of worth", that there is more to life than an endless grind to improve an employer's bottom line.

Here in Houston, there is a phenomenally successful restaurant owner Johnny Carraba has been unable to open his new concept restaurant "Mia's Table" in the suburbs because he cannot find waitstaff willing to commit to a 50 hour work week including nights, weekends and holidays (no exceptions).....for $2.15 per hour plus tips.

....and he's baffled by claims that he's "clueless"...He's a multimillionaire dammit!

Employers are competing with the government for employees.

That's not true. Employers are failing to adapt to changes in the marketplace, and blaming the government and employees for the failure to return to pre-virus status quo.

BS. There is no need to maintain the post Virus status quo. Covid is all but dead. It's government trying to buy it's way back into universal Covid controls without justification, other than their need to place totalitarian restraints on the American people, where they can, in order to usher in their new Socialist state.

I'm not permanently disabled nor do I get any welfare Rob.

Why must you lie so much?

Or do you just not understand how the VA works??

Massive welfare in the form of generous unemployment supplements paying people to not work is not "the marketplace" Rob.

Take the welfare away and that is "the marketplace". ;)

Take all that welfare away and he'll have a staff in no time .....happy to get those tips. Especially in a high end restaurant??? Holy shit....that's fuckin' bank right there.

I got my 2nd job at a high end place as a busboy, and I pulled just over 1500 a week in tips, average over the year.

The wait staff was making easily 2x that....back in the late 90's.

Both Rightguide and Snowfrake (two chronically unemployed individuals) keep insisting that America must return to the pre-virus norms, failing to recognize that the employment landscape has changed.

There are a lot of people out there now who realize that they can work from home, and are demanding more of that sort of accomodation in the workplace. And there are shortages of workers in entry level jobs (NOT entirely due to "massive government welfare", despite Snowfrake's claims to the contrary) because people recognize that the cost of child care and transportation to a minimum wage job is not the way to get ahead anymore.

It's also worth pointing out that both of those individuals get a check from the government each month. They may have even convinced themselves that they've somehow "earned" their government largesse.

Really? Now that's just sad.

Really, your compulsive lying??? I agree.

Unemployed???

What is your obsession with being a wage slave?? I would never do that again if I didn't have to.

I employ, I'll never be employed again

Contrary to your apparent belief, there is higher station than being someone else's bitch Rob.

You should try to achieve that some day. ;)

And the employment landscape has only changed in that the government is fucking with it and needs to stop.

No convincing needed.....

That's why it's not welfare Rob, that's also why I get it and you don't. Stay mad.

It's only lying when someone disagrees with you. Otherwise, you lie and let liars lie without calling them out -- as long as they agree with your politics.

Just ask him to point an obvious and blatant lie from another Trumplican. He can't. Hypocrisy, lies, and ascription makes up a large portion of his shitpists.

Repeal and replace.

You are lying again Luk....terrible mind reader, every single time.

Repeal and replace? What the hell does that have to do with the price of tea in China? I mean, other than being yet another lie told by 45 to you idiots.

He's cornered. He'll say/do anything when he is cornered. "Repeal and Replace" was simply some long buried neural synapse that fired first when the adrenaline surge triggered his "fight or flight" response.

It was a lie.

Exactly. :D
