Do You Have Common Stall Points In Stories?

I have the same feeling on this book.

"Concentrate on the feelings of the characters instead" only goes so far, I think. Writing a sex story involves describing a lot of sex. And there are a limited number of words, phrases and variations. Also, I'm doing twelve or thirteen chapters in a book with sex in every chapter, and...you know, your protagonist's on her fifth blow-job it just starts to blend together...

I get bogged down when it comes to sounds....there are only so many. Moan, groan, whimper, yelp, yip, gasp, squeal., sigh. Seems like variety, but in a long scene or multiple scenes in one book it gets repetitive

Bonus! I haven't tried whimper, yelp, or yip yet. No-one is going to be whimpering, yelping or yipping during sex in the current story, but maybe in the Halloween story.

As a father of a boy I always said, When you have a boy, you have to worry about one boy. When you have a girl, you have to worry about all boys.

That's a totally male-oriented point of view. As the father of three girls, I didn't worry about the guys. My girls had to worry about the guys and understand their situation. We talked to them frankly about sex and relationships. The guys they dated were mostly clueless.

Wail, cry, squeak, & screech. :D

I modify the quality of the sound a lot of times as well. Stuttering gasp. Broken wail.

I even sprinkle in the occasional phonetic cry when there's some dialogue.

I'm taking notes, but I don't actually understand "stuttering gasp."

Sounds don't have to be one word.

Karl heard the incoherent noises Heidi made and leaned closer to sort out what she meant. Through the grunts and gasps, he made out, "Get ... your ... dick ... out of my ass ... or I'm going to garrote you while you sleep."

I have used wail, never squeak or screech though, I associate those words with different emotions(or animals in the case of squeak)

I also forgot to add howl.

One of my most porno descriptions

"She came like an animal, head back, mouth open, and wailing like a banshee.

Being you're a bit of a pop culture geek the quote "screaming like a banshee" is from a campy cult classic horror movie and I always think of it when I use that line.

The only way I can imagine a stuttering gasp is when little kids take tantrums and do that fake crying and lose their breath and they're still trying to cry:rolleyes:

I have a four year old grand daughter who has that turned into an art form.

I've used "A series of sharp high pitched sounds, like sexy hiccups"...the well is running dry when I've reached that point.

I resort to porn onomatopoeia sometimes - it still amuses me. I've even added a few noises to spellcheck. But less and less often.

A certain amount of purring and mewling is permitted.

There are a lot of animal sounds that can describe sounds made during sex. In addition to some of the ones already mentioned, like yip, purr, squeak, meow, etc. the following could also apply

bark, howl, low (similar to moan but more from the diaphram,) chirp, crow, huff, bleet, growl, roar, squack, buzz, honk, etc.

There are also the nonvocal sounds of sex, like thump, squish, queef, slap, rumble, clap, etc.

Feral moans...purring...mewling...growling...primal

We really ought to start a sticky on this one.

I almost never use squeak alone. It's typically where some other sound or dialogue gets cut off due to ( penetration, onset of orgasm, unexpected thumb in the round-brown, etc. )

I've used the ol' banshee wail more than once.

I can write sex scenes fine, and can usually manage to introduce characters. Getting two together is OK but I may take way longer than planned over it.

What I'm terrible at is conflict and arguments. I tend to just sum it up in a sentence, then move to how one character feels after.

And then get back to the fun bits. Which is likely to be investigating what our protagonist thinks about breakfast, more than sex...

A lot of growling. Very occasionally, a howl.

From the point of view of the participants, there is no bad sex in porn. One runs out of superlatives.

How can every blow-job be the most incredible ever? All right, I guess from the POV of the guy on the receiving side, at that moment, it might be.

I’m in hysterics at some of these sounds, but honked got me thinking of inappropriate sex sounds…

Her mouth wrapped around him and he honked with pleasure
She swallowed with a quack
Grasping her hair he oinked in time with the rhythm he rocked her head.
He knew she was struggling when she barked, her throat filled with him
He grumbled, hissed and growled before releasing his hold, allowing her to surface for air.
Her mouth open and closed, only the sound of lips smacking together could be heard. He smiled thinking she sounded like a goldfish out of water

*takes a bow at my awesome, hot, sexy, erotic writing* lessons will be available tomorrow on using the words neigh, moo, cluck in anal scenes

These are great.

I could see "moo" in a hucow story.

"...throughout their encounter she had been lowing softly as her breasts and nipples finally received the attention she had so desparately craved. Now, as she approached the peak of her arousal, her earlier lowing gave way to bleets and squeals in a fevered pitch of ecstasy..."
