Threema - Private Messenger Usage

has anyone used Threema - Private Messenger on their smartphone in totally private mode... that means. no linking to a telephone number or email address. They give you a Threema ID and say

'your Threema ID works just like a phone number. Yours friends can reach you through this ID.'

but has anyone actually done it with success to report that it does work?

Yes since 6 years or so. Works great. Worth the money.
