"Silencing the teaching of systemic racism is a perfect example of systemic racism."

Liked this quote.

Thanks for (again) proving us right, Deplorables.👍

Kids should be exposed to as many perspectives as possible during their education.

But the biggest thing you can teach them is a proper scientific method understanding.

If you allow them to understand how to absorb differing views with that basis, then they will develop the best perspective for them.

Adding non white voices to historical context gives a more whollistic view of history.

Except it's not.

There is no "systemic racism".

"systemic racism" = lefty term for white people and their evil whiteness.

It really shouldn't be so easy. God...our educational system is so broken

And where does "White people and whiteness are a plague upon the world." fit into that??

In your generalization of CRT mainly.

Yea...because nobody on the left ever cries about white privilege, or white supremacy or blames systemic racism on whiteness.

Are you trying to lie to yourself with that??

So because some people on the left say some things then all.of them must also believe that

Some?? it's been a near unanimous cry for going on 6 years now.

It's in the highest levels of our government including the White House, our military and our education systems. Racism and whiteness are some of the biggest threats to the country!!!!! Just ask a Democrat....they say so on the news like every day. Anytime any of them get a podium or a mic they make sure we all know how serious the racism and whiteness problems in the USA, the worst most evil and racist nation that has ever existed REALLY are.

If you don't believe it, why are ya'll pushing to force it down the entire countries throat?? Top to bottom coast to coast.

I get that it makes you angry.

I am not pushing anything down anyone's throats. The only reason I'm even discussing it here is because all you dipshits are raising holy hell over it and whenever someone attempts to talk specifics on the topic, you just come back with some oversimplified narrative that doesn't address anything except your grievances against what is happening in modern culture.

White privilege and systemic racism are real, but nobody blames them on whiteness as such. Nobody suggests there is anything in the hereditary nature of white people that inclines them or enables them to dominate other races; that they did so was a merely a matter of unique historic opportunities, that any other racial group might have taken advantage of if similarly situated. One can easily imagine the Chinese conquering a colonial world-empire with a racial caste system, Han on top and barbarians on bottom in every colony, if the exploration program of Zheng He had not been defunded by the Ming.

If we are to teach kids anything in this field, it should begin with the thesis of Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies, by Jared Diamond. He gives no blame or credit for anything to the hereditary nature of Europeans or of anybody else.

Yes, teach the children how to think, not what.

He’s a broad brush blunt instrument kind of guy. Just how he rolls.

I love that all the racists are upset that kids may learn just how shitty america has been and still is. :)

Blah,blah, blah, blah...racist.

Telling white children they're the problem is sick and evil.

CRT does not teach that.

Critical race theory (CRT) is a theoretical framework or set of perspectives by which structural and institutional racism may be examined.[1] It developed as an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists in the United States who sought to critically examine U.S. law as it intersects with issues of race in the U.S. and to challenge mainstream American liberal approaches to racial justice.[2] CRT examines social, cultural and legal issues as they relate to race and racism in the United States[3][4] and elsewhere in the world.[5][6][7]

CRT originated in the mid-1970s in the writings of several American legal scholars, including Derrick Bell, Alan Freeman, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Richard Delgado, Cheryl Harris, Charles R. Lawrence III, Mari Matsuda, and Patricia J. Williams.[2] It emerged as a movement by the 1980s, reworking theories of critical legal studies (CLS) with more focus on race.[2][8] CRT is grounded in critical theory[9] and draws from thinkers such as Antonio Gramsci, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, and W. E. B. DuBois, as well as the Black Power, Chicano, and radical feminist movements from the 1960s and 1970s.[2]

CRT emphasizes how racism and disparate racial outcomes can be the result of complex, changing and often subtle social and institutional dynamics, rather than explicit and intentional prejudices by individuals.[10][11] It also views race as a socially constructed identity[10] which serves to oppress non-white people.[12] In the field of legal studies, CRT emphasizes that merely making laws colorblind on paper may not be enough to make the application of the laws colorblind; ostensibly colorblind laws can be applied in racially discriminatory ways.[13] Intersectionality – which emphasizes that race can intersect with other identities (such as gender and class) to produce complex combinations of power and disadvantage – is a key CRT concept.[14]

Academic critics of CRT argue that it relies on social constructionism, elevates storytelling over evidence and reason, rejects the concepts of truth and merit, and opposes liberalism.[15][16][17] Since 2020, conservative lawmakers in the United States have sought to ban or restrict critical race theory instruction along with other anti-racism programs.[11][18] Critics of these efforts say the lawmakers have poorly defined or misrepresented the tenets and importance of CRT and that the goal of the laws is to silence broader discussions of racism, equality, social justice, and the history of race.[19][20][21] CRT has since 2020 been seen as part of the "culture wars" in the political landscape of the United Kingdom[22] and Australia as well.[1]
