Apparently, in Texas, you don't control your on thermostat

They agreed to it. Its a nonstory unless the point is to read everything you sign.

Exactly.

Maybe if Texas were trying to force all 50 states into doing the same, you know like Democrats are always trying to force red states to live how CA and NY want them to live by pushing all their trash federally?? WillJ might have had something.

But this is just Texas doing Texas stuff in Texas. Setting an example on minding their own fucking bidnizz....aka the way things are supposed to be.

WillJ....learn the difference between state and federal.

Figure out what the USA is and how it's supposed to work.

Nothing is better than an all out totalitarian leftist, living in red states, complaining about freedom. :D

Rob doesn't seem to understand that he doesn't have to accept the utilities company.

He could go off grid and be free to live however he wants...unlike in a rapidly growing number of blue states who have taken a liking to forcing folks to buy into their energy scams where you pay top dollar for rolling blackouts all summer every summer like in California.

Listen to the blue state welfare queen.

Another red state progressive who wouldn't DARE move to California and actually live under all that "progress" he advocates.

I don't live in a blue state or get welfare.

Why must you lie about absolutely everything???

That was pretty much my reaction when I heard about this story. If people are mad on the grounds of "Sure I signed something I didn't read; who hasn't done that?" I can't be too sympathetic.

Besides, the people of Texas have freely chosen a state government that works overtime on owning the libs and not at all on anything else. They can bitch and moan now, and burn their furniture to stay warm again next winter, but they will vote in an all-Republican government again once November 2022 rolls around.

They voted for it....it is a scam to get Federal money. Poor us...help us...eat shit Texans.

Gosh, what a choice, to live with or without electicity.

I understand your family lineage is not far removed from the hovels and corrugated container shacks of your native North Korea, but I've had a first-world existence my whole life and yes, I prefer to live with electricity AND running water. YMMV.

The guy is so fucking stupid he doesn't realize there are energy alternatives. :D

Rob, I have electricity and water...enough to run a fuckin' tropical fish farm and almost 4,000sq ft of greenhouse...in Minnesota.

No electric bill!!! :D It's all mine.

No surprise that you prefer your hovel to be "off the grid", given your credit rating the security deposit would have been astronomical....it'd likely consume almost one entire month fo your government stipend.

Even you have to admit its a bit fucked up and a little funny
They do scream about freedom and nanny government constantly but they arent allowed to manage the temp inside their homes ... like little children

You also have to wonder ... a private company that runs the thermostats .. just does qhat the power company wants which is a sort of government entity

The texans bought the thermostats .. pay for the power .. own the home and the power company tells the thermostat company to change the temps

Like they are little children

You know what's even stupider is that the waste of pixels doesn't understand that in some places you're not allowed to be off grid. Try cutting the lines off and going solar or using a generator in some parts of TexAss. The 'freedumb government' will be all over your ass for code violations and the utility will be charging you for service and account fees even if you don't have one.

The stupid fucker is too stupid to know how stupid he is.

LOL!!!! Yea, so I'm not hosed when some other idiots fuck up. It's called not being a fuckin' retard. ;)

And you're pretending to know my credit rating too!!!

(D)esperation has never been so delicious. :D

Sure you don’t. Only voted blue for the past 40 years.

Yea if you totally ignore the difference between a voluntary transaction with a private company, a state regulation controlling what they do in their home (Texas telling Texans what to do) and a federal law controlling what they do in their home (49 other states telling Texans what to do in their home).

Then yea I suppose it could be a little 'fucked up and a little funny'......if you ignore all that. :)

It's not at all a government entity. The power company can't blow your doors off at 2am, stick a gun in your face, incarcerate you and seize your property for not doing what they tell you to do.

The government can.

The texans bought the thermostats .. pay for the power .. own the home and the power company tells the thermostat company to change the temps

They bought the thermostats and pay for the service.

It's like any other service you pay for.....if you don't like the service, go elsewhere. :)

Probably because a homeowner has no other choice. It is exactly as take-it-or-leave-it as any dealing with a state-owned enterprise in the Soviet Union. Or as any software end-user agreement -- even if you take time to read it, there's never any point in shopping around for a better deal, is there?

All you need do to say that is to ignore every fucking word of the article.

This April after those SWEET covid gains hit that long term CG tax bracket of just 20% :D

Sold my share of the orchard I used to be partners with in CA early this May too.

I'm 100% out of lefty states and 99% out of the USD. I'm food, energy and security independent and as far outside the system as 20 years of struggle to do so has been able to get me.

Just short of a full on communist/fascist revolution and takeover where the state just puts a JDAM through my front door at 2am, erases me and takes my shit?? I'm set to just sit back, be a plant nerd and watch the (D) run cities and systems self destruct.

Ya'll can print off a hundred trillion bucks and give it away to everyone!! Lock down the economy again! If it saves just one life!!! And all the other dumb shit.

I don't care, because I don't have to. Just another stage of the game.
