Decision Time

I have one ready to go as soon as it's proofread; my first in six months (fuck you, life, for intervening) and now I have to decide where to put it (I guess that's a minor spoiler alert, lol). It's a threesome - do I put it in group? My main character is a middle aged guy getting over his divorce with a younger neighbor - do I put it in mature? It's the first threesome for the characters - first time? Romance (yes, there is a sweet little romance buried away in it). Do I just say "screw it" and throw it in erotic couplings? The things you have to worry about after retirement!

Anyway, my gut feeling is to go with group or mature; I have done well in mature but am interested in seeing how the "group" readers like it.

It's going to be ready in a day or so, so I'll have to decide soon, but I'll be happy to take suggestions until then.

Is the third a younger ( woman, I assume? ) as well? Normally, I categorize even age-difference threesomes as group, but I honestly think I've been leaving a lot on the table doing that. The bulk of my readership is in Mature, and two younger lovers hits the kink just as well as one.

If he's having a threesome with her and her BFF or something, I'd say go with mature. Larger readership, and it fits perfectly fine in the category.

If it's MFM, then go group. You're going to dilute the kink factor for age-difference too much when you throw another guy in there. Likewise if the third is the same age as the MC. I think that's a tad too much dilution as well.

"A little bit of romance" isn't enough for the Romance category. The chase is what they're there for.

First time readers expect virgins. Anything else has an uphill battle.

If the threesome is the crescendo of the naughty bits, or more or less all of it, then group applies. If it's one scene in the middle of the story, you may lose those readers.

Thanks for that. I was going to ask a similar question about a story with a 70/45/22 yo family of fire-fighters vs a 25 yo female.

You don't say the age or sex of the third party. I'm assuming its MFF, and the other female is probably a friend of the young female love interest. To me that would be most consistent with how you've described the story so far.

If that's so, I think Mature would work. If its MFM and more of a gonzo sex story, then Group is probably right.

There are lots of possibilities with your story set up. I'd be curious to know more details.

By the way, another reason to put it in Mature is that on average that category gets more views than do the others you mentioned.

First Time wouldn't apply if they're not virgins. "First Time Threesome" is not what those readers are looking for.

And the crowd in the stands generally expects female virginity. I had one story which brought a minor complaint that they were kindsaorta disappointed that it was the male character who lost his cherry, vice the female one. Meh, he would've looked terrible in the bikini...

Anyway, my inclination, overall, is to go with Mature. This is, however, why the tags could be placed more prominently and utilized more effectively.
