It is not clear whether you are for this decision or against it.
The Pulse was, of course, a place where a Muslim shot up queers from apparently religious motives, though I suspect he was just crazy. Islam condemns homosexuality in principle, but it is of course widely practiced in polygamous cultures where the women disappear into rich men's harems.

I think you misunderstand the word itself. It's not a monument or a history lesson. It remembers the people that died. A memorial to firefighters doesn't talk about arsonists.

It's part of governing. You handle the big stuff as well as the small stuff. They pass more legislation renaming libraries and parks on the regular. During pride month, of course a memorial dedicated to patrons of a gay club gets more attention.
