Of the last ten stories in the lesbian category, I bailed out of eight, when they got too obviously written by men. One was well written enough that I read most of it and one felt like written by someone who knew what they were talking about. I get it, wanting to write about lesbians as a man. I just wish I could read more stories that felt like they were written by lesbians.

As for the pictures, I'm so damn picky.
I see high heels, long nails, fake tits and I'm going to presume fake everything and lose interest immediately. Just not my thing. Maybe I'm just too old. Of the era when lesbians looked liked lesbians, not dolled up for the male gaze.

Just out of curiosity, how can you tell that those lesbian stories were written by men?

Right. Obviously they are just my impressions. The first is how women in the stories are described. Something about the use of words, things that are paid attention and things that not paid attention to. Secondly things that are not said. Far too many femmes without anyone wondering how to communicate they are a lesbian when wearing makeup, high heels and flowery dresses.
The sex itself feels wrong. The rhythm of it. Far too often one orgasm each and done. That's never been a reality in my life. :D

I briefly considered writing a how-to guide to lesbian sex for authors, but hey, first of all, I'm not an author so what do I know. Secondly, what does it matter. Most readers aren't going to be lesbians so what's written probably works for the majority. Like most lesbian porn, it's for men who enjoy the fake tits and never consider that lesbians really do keep their fingernails short. At least on two fingers ;)
And thirdly, obviously I can't speak for all lesbians, as I'm only one of them. I'm sure there's tons of stuff that's perfectly normal for others that I consider weird due to cultural or generational differences.


And the amount of giggling, there's far too much giggling.

I enjoyed reading your post. Long, long ago I had a female friend on another site who told me that most guys know nothing about women's clothing and shoes. She also tested suspects by asking them to identify medical tools used by a gyno. I recently posted that I think LizVegas' clothes thread is a good way to identify the real from the bogus.

A brilliant example. When men write about lesbians, do they write about lesbians or about fantasy women who they imagine having sex with women?
While I don't personally follow the butch-femme dichotomy, of the five pairs shoes I own, three are men's shoes. I feel like the only thing I know about women's shoes is that 90% of them are designed to please men (lift the ass, make women vulnerable), not to be wearable. Obviously they sell, because so many straight women like looking desirable to men and there's nothing wrong with that. It just seems a shame to me that they have to be uncomfortable to do it.
