Well, judging people on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin is a total rejection of CRT which promotes judging EVERYTHING on the basis of skin color.

He'd focus on both, because both are directly relevant here.
What King said about "the content of a man's character" was that we should strive for a society in which that will be all that matters. He was NOT saying that was all that mattered in 1963 and there's no reason to believe he'd be saying it now. The very problem he was trying to address was that people were judged by the color of their skin and nothing else. That problem still has not been solved.

Critical Race Theory has of course already been conducted by those of a far left persuasion, long ago, it's nothing new, and it is ongoing. The conclusion reached, the conclusion they always reach and will always reach, is that white people are uniquely terrible and at the heart of all that is wrong with the world.
