"FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — Virginia’s highest court ruled Thursday that the city of Charlottesville can take down two statues of Confederate generals, including one of Robert E. Lee that became the focus of a violent white nationalist rally in 2017.

The state Supreme Court overturned a Circuit Court decision in favor of a group of residents who sued to block the city from taking down the Lee statue and a nearby monument to fellow Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. Charlottesville’s city council voted to remove both.

White supremacist and neo-Nazi organizers of the August 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville said they went to the city to defend the statue of Lee. They clashed with counterprotesters before a man plowed his car into a crowd of people, killing a woman."

And yet, as some Trumpette will post, the statue (and one of Jackson in another of the city squares as well), is still there. I walked by it some twenty minutes ago.

Ya'll are NOT thinking ahead. So you got the statues but now you have a bigger problem, birds still gotta shit and you took away their toilet.
This will not end well. Mark my words.

Tearing down Confederate monuments might be emotionally satisfying, but it will do nothing to address black poverty or provide jobs.

Yeah.

Them DEAD people are really dangerous, especially the marble ones or concrete...cast bronze.

But once they are gone who's to say they ever existed?

Another hundred years of PC,Slavery will be just a myth that can't be proved.

And because of the intelligent "Wise people" history will probably repeat itself yet again.:(

Well, it's not a matter of "erasing history." High-school history classes will still teach students all about the Civil War.

Seriously?
In '91 I had a Collage Student ask what side wore the Blue and which side wore the Gray! And no she had no Ideal who won...

The American and Texas history she was taught had little resemblance to what we learned because PC had already started!

'91 was long before all these statues started coming down, so that won't make any difference.

Well colors ARE important when a person is making a historically accurate "collage".

And the reason she probably had a limited knowledge of real American history is because she was educated using the Texas school system's white washed version of American history.

If FuckingGoofBall is any indication of what the Texas school system produces, then I truly pity every kid growing up in the lone brain cell state.

*nods*

Most of mine is medically related because of what happened at the time I turned twenty, I have no clue what it is called but I only recovered about half way.
Some days are better than others.

The recall doesn't work like it did before. A frightening thing to have happen really.

Almost a photographic memory and then three months later I couldn't even remember what I walked into a room for.

It HAS made working in Parts interesting!

But YOU!

You are just a plain Asshole without any hope.

Some call it 'medically related'.

Some call it an LSD trip.

Someday you are going to get something right.

Even a broke clock has the right time twice a day.

Don't give up.

Yeah, maybe a mentally challenged clown like FGB should refrain from mocking "collage" students for their lack of knowledge concerning American history.

Just a thought.

Confederate forces never wore grey. Their official uniform color was called "butternut" at the time.

Somewhat coincidentally, the Korean word for "traitor" is "Lee".

When they had uniforms at all. Generally, their forces were not as well-supplied as the Union's, and sometimes they had to fight in their civilian clothes. More importantly, they weren't as well-fed. An agrarian power can't win a conventional war against an industrial power.

Am I the only one who flashes on "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" on reading the thread title?

Right, just like no one today remembers Hitler or Stalin.
And it's YOUR side that's trying to erase the truth about slavery, not ours.
