Oh, the sounds of singing...."guilty your honor."

BFD. A friggin' wacko. You should have read further:

"The militia member, Jon Schaffer, pleaded guilty Friday to minor trespassing charges at the Capitol building. Prosecutors charged him with an information rather than an indictment, a charging instrument normally used for people who agree to cooperate with prosecutors."

That quote is not in the linked article. The bolded text makes me think you fabricated the quote.

"Hodgkins initially faced a five-count indictment that included obstructing an official proceeding, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, but he pleaded guilty Wednesday to just one charge of obstruction of an official proceeding, and the government agreed to dismiss his four other charges.

That charge carries a maximum possible penalty of 20 years imprisonment, but with his plea agreement, Hodgkins faces a recommended sentence of between 15 and 21 months.

In agreeing to plead guilty, Hodgkins also agreed to pay $2,000 in restitution. "

'Minor' charges don't carry 20 year potential sentences.

That's because you have a reading impediment. Go down to the third paragraph the link is there, click on the underlined "according to DOJ filings."

He was charged with an information because he pleaded guilty. That way it goes directly to a court rather than through a grand jury. It’s a sort of loophole around the Fifth Amendment.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. Your quote was from a link to another article linked in the article above. You really had to dig deep to find distraction this time!

Your guy pled guilty and is still looking at a felony conviction and up to 20 years hard time.

I read the article when I looked for the charges they weren't present so I went back and realized they were linked, like a thorough study would do.

None of those fuckers are "my guy." This guy is pleading guilty minor trespass. it isn't a 20 year sentence.

Felony trespass on federal property. Up to 20 years for your guy.

Funny how the board Trumpettes want to disown their "just visiting the Capitol" guys now. I'm sure they are just channeling Donald Trump's "this guy sleeping in my bed with me? I've never met him" technique.

That clown wasn't even indicted, he isn't going to trial. Unless they're going to make an example out of him and risk the loss of his cooperation, he'll get light confinement, a fine, possibly supervised release.
