A New Party for anti-Trump Republicans?

Frustrated by the direction the Republican party has taken since nominating Donald Trump as its presidential candidate, a group of of Republican leaders is pushing to "rededicate" the GOP to its founding ideals. Led by Republican and independent leaders, the group put out a public declaration titled A Call for American Renewal. More than 150 leaders have joined.

"We will not wait forever for the GOP to clean up its act," Miles Taylor, a founder of the movement, tweeted after releasing the five-page document outlining the group's concerns and goals. "If we cannot save the Republican Party from itself, we will help save America from extremist elements in the Republican Party."

The movement describes itself as consisting of local, state and national leaders. The group says its members seek to form a "common-sense coalition" that will work to overcome the "division and political extremism" of the current political system.

Any party that walks the center...be whatever that is...will always garnish 68% of the vote. That is what every introductory statistics course teaches in week 1. I would strongly consider them...just as I did with Biden...which was the most center of any Democratic candidate...and is the reason why he won. Trump had little to do with it

That has literally never happened in 224 years of elections. The highest share anyone has received was, I think, 63% or so. Remember, lots of people who claim to be "centrists" are really quite a ways off to one end or the other; they just think they're in the middle because they assume all reasonable people think like them.

That's because the money isn't centered...and politicians place greater weight where the money is and not on public opinion

Statistics never lies. Political views are a bell-shaped distribution. There may be a tail. It may be skewed. It may have kurtosis...but it is bell-shaped. The fringe...of both parties...is preferentially selected by our corrupt primary system. That is the problem and why we don't see true centrists.

Approximately 6% of the American electorate is "chamber of commerce" Republicans according to surveys. At least a third are solid MAGA, plus many more soft MAGA.

Good luck guys. Not sure who will vote for you but yeah whatever floats your boat. Good riddance.

MAGA isn't the "fringe." That's what you've failed to understand all along. Its the neo-con establishnent Republicans who are fringe. Nobody likes them. They only won off and on from the 70s to 2000's because they bamboozled America First patriots to support them. Middle America will never go back to supporting neo-con RINO's again. Its either MAGA or Democrat rule forever. Thats simply reality.

Is Ron DeSantis a "neo-con"? Well no- at least I thought "con" was short for conservative (which DeSantis is) and "neo" was short for Jewish, which DeSantis isn't. He appears to me to be electable, rather nicer than Trump or Cruz, with a more analytical mind, certainly, than the former. His policies, as best I can tell, would be good for America and a good antithesis to the clowns leading the government today.
