Round or square? With or without toppings?

Discuss.

Was going to score breakfast this morning, but the awful waffle didn't have its shit together, so we went for brunch at another place instead.

Theirs would have been round. Copious butter and a bit of syrup, no toppings.

My grandmother made killer waffles, I suspect that her batter was from scratch. Everything else was.

Apparently Covid killed the Sunday Brunch. The brunch crowd is either dead, or can't figure out how to stuff a waffle through their mask.

Peaches and other fruity bits belong on flapjacks, waffles is for butter and syrup. BTW, the square ones have more surface area for larger applications of fortifying cholesterol-laden goodness.

And...

Make mine crispy. Pale flaccid waffles is for wimps.

Square. Crispy.

Butter and syrup. Real maple syrup, not any of that fake garbage.

Or alternatively, butter and a good jam.

Square waffles... starting off with butter and maple syrup... but seeing as I always eat them with hashbrowns w/ketchup... I end up with some ketchup mixed into the syrup on the waffle.

My dad used to eat pancakes with jam and condensed milk.

It's actually not bad tasting but I still prefer butter and syrup.

Round. Syrup, sometimes butter too. We've been into Bourbon barrel syrup. In summer, strawberries and chocolate syrup, and whipped cream.
