The rioters and looters that hijacked the peaceful protests last summer had no defined affiliations, they were just opportunistic criminals. And those who have been identified have been charged and prosecuted when their crimes warranted it.

The Capitol insurrectionists were affiliated with the traitor in chief's MAGA movement, and had a clearly defined agenda: To violently contravene the certification of a free and fair election. The premeditated nature of their acts is evidenced by their statements, equipment, and coordinated planning. Their hunting of lawmakers and the Vice President is also well documented.

Both groups are criminals, but only the MAGAts consciously attempted an insurrection at the behest of the traitor in chief.

I suppose it would help if you knew he difference between calling for a gathering to happen at a specific time and date, inciting the mob at the rally you advertised and paid for, having speakers at your rally call for trial by combat while telling them to fight, then specifically directing them to the Capitol and saying you will join them to stop a constitutional process VS. a statement that read "“I hope we get a verdict that says guilty, guilty, guilty,” Rep. Waters said. “And if we don’t, we cannot go away. We’ve got to stay on the street. We get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational. We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.”

These are the "exact same thing"? I would say it is a self evident truth that they are completely different in tone, tenor, context and consequences.
