"They're trying to 'memory hole' what happened on January 6th...They're trying to get rid of Lit Cheney because she won't let them do that." - George Conway

Yup - they're trying to do it on several fronts. 1/6/2021 is the most inconvenient truth Republicans have had to deal with in decades. Will be fun to watch them lose their shit when the convictions start coming in. ;)

Stop with the lies. George Conway has a rectal case of TDS and cannot be trusted.

And we will never let them forget.

They tried to trample on our right to a free and fair election.

Oh look, one of the terrorist sympathizers appeared.

Like clockwork: 120 seconds, lol

Must suck to be on the side that tried to violently overthrow democracy (and failed) on behalf of a one-term, twice-impeached, twice loser of the popular vote President.

Must suck hard. :D

It appears this thread has triggered the creation of an angry response thread.

I knew this would be a sensitive issue.

Conflation and misinformation to confuse their base.

McCarthy had the gall to say this:
"I don’t think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election."

lmao

Check out this gall:

"You know, if you didn't know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit." - Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde (R), yesterday

Alternate reality. Al-ter-nate re-al-ity.

That’s Georgia. “Deliverance” was about a normal tourist visit.

And now there is this. From a left wing source as well:

Trump's former defense secretary suddenly backs away from blaming him for Capitol riot
Christopher C. Miller says he's "reassessed" his position

But during his testimony Miller appeared far more lukewarm, claiming that he now felt differently after reading statements from D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee and receiving more information related to ongoing investigations into the riot.

When Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., pressed Miller on whether he stood by his initial remarks, Miller said that Trump's role "is not the unitary factor at all," adding that "it seems clear there was an organized conspiracy with assault elements in place." Lynch then accused Miller of contradicting his prior remarks, which laid the blame at Trump's feet. Miller fumed at Lynch, calling his accusation "ridiculous."

Observations and statements always change when one is under oath.

None of that says 45 didn't incite the riot - which he did.

O'Brien was looking down at him speculatively. More than ever he had the air of a teacher taking pains with a wayward but promising child.

"There is a Party slogan dealing with the control of the past," he said. "Repeat it, if you please."

"'Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past,'" repeated Winston obediently.

"'Who controls the present controls the past,'" said O'Brien, nodding his head with slow approval. "Is it your opinion, Winston, that the past has real existence?"

Again the feeling of helplessness descended upon Winston. His eyes flitted towards the dial. He not only did not know whether "yes" or "no" was the answer that would save him from pain; he did not even know which answer he believed to be the true one.

O'Brien smiled faintly. "You are no metaphysician, Winston," he said. "Until this moment you had never considered what is meant by existence. I will put it more precisely. Does the past exist concretely, in space? Is there somewhere or other a place, a world of solid objects, where the past is still happening?"

"No."

"Then where does the past exist, if at all?"

"In records. It is written down."

"In records. And —?"

"In the mind. In human memories."

"In memory. Very well, then. We, the Party, control all records, and we control all memories. Then we control the past, do we not?"

Yes, indeed. Lit's Deplorables want to change the subject every time they are reminded about January 6th. Must suck to be that defensive all the time.

Thoughts and prayers to them, especially the mentally ill ones who can no longer track reality. :rose:

It's such a weird flex.

They get all froggy whenever "libs" or the "Left" appear to be acting up, but when Jan 6th comes up, it's either all crickets or them yelling, "SQUIRREL!!!"

Cheeto done broke their minds. And took their money doing it. :D

It's only "inconvenient" to bootlickers. Meaningful change only occurs through violence. In this case, they were misguided. They wanted to go from the blue tyrant back to the read tyrant. Never forget that on January 6th, for the first time, the politicians feared the people.

So the Biden administration isn’t providing meaningful change? Good to know.

I almost replied to the bullshit. But instead I put it on ignore. Fascist traitors are all talk. No action.

Mick Mulvaney, who served as White House chief of staff under former President Donald Trump, on Saturday strongly criticized the ex-president's latest Capitol riot remarks.

On Thursday, Trump slammed the Capitol security measures that were put in place in the aftermath of the deadly January 6 insurrection, which left five people dead including a Capitol police officer. "I think it's disgraceful—it looks, for the world to watch—absolutely, it's a political maneuver that they're doing. It was zero threat right from the start, it was zero threat," he said.

Mulvaney called the former president's remarks "manifestly false" in an interview on CNN's Newsroom on Saturday. "I was surprised to hear the president say that," he said. "Clearly, there were people who were behaving themselves and then there were people who absolutely were not."

He added: "To come out and say that everybody was fine and there was no risk is just, that's manifestly false," he said. "People died. Other people were severely injured. To say there was no risk is just wrong."

Mulvaney explained that he watched the riots unfold live on television and saw violence take place. "There are videos of folks behaving themselves and protesting peacefully. But they should not have been there. And it's not right to say there was no risk. I don't know how you can say that when people were killed," he said.

Two Capitol Police officers filed a civil suit Tuesday against former President Donald Trump for physical and emotional injuries they say they suffered as a result of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

In the lawsuit, James Blassingame, a 17-year veteran of the force, and Sidney Hemby, who has served as a Capitol Police officer for 11 years, quote Trump's words leading up to the riot, including Trump's baseless claims of voter fraud and his assertion that Democrats were "trying to steal" the election.

The suit, filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., demands an award of at least $75,000 for each officer for each of the five alleged counts against Trump, as well as punitive damages and costs associated with the litigation. The counts include directing assault and battery, aiding and abetting assault and battery, directing intentional infliction of emotional distress, and violating D.C. statutes against incitement of a riot and disorderly conduct.
