It's a good question. There are other sites, but there are also some very realistic, very romantic stories on Literotica. Your best bet here would be in either Romance or Mature.

Added: Don't take much notice of the ratings. A less explicit story is likely to score lower. Anything rated above 3.5 could be worth looking at.

I'd say that on the one hand, you're correct. On the other hand, writing explicit sex scenes doesn't have to mean there's a lack of love and/or romance in the story line. It's difficult to do and takes up a lot of space but it can be done. What the author has to do is write love and not lust and use the physical sex as the vehicle of expression instead of intention.

What that means is that well written love stories can have high ratings too. But, like any book/story, you can't tell what's behind the cover until you read it.

I agree. But when I first started reading extensively on Literotica, I found many stories I liked, that were well written and had an interesting plot, that were rated far lower than I would have expected.

They can be buried under a pile of troll 1 votes...

I agree. But when I first started reading extensively on Literotica, I found many stories I liked, that were well written and had an interesting plot, that were rated far lower than I would have expected.

They can be buried under a pile of troll 1 votes...

If you notice, EVERYTHING is buried under a pile of 1-votes. The overly vitriolic feedback from "anonymous" are also from the trolls who 1-vote.

2 things that can be done (but won't be) to change this:

1. Get rid of anonymous voting/feedback. If you're going to vote, you MUST BE a member of Literotica. It's free to join and it gives the site owners better understanding of who, and how many, visitors use the site.

2. Drop the 1 and make the scale 2-5. Or better yet, 2-10.

Everyone who follows you gets notified whenever you publish a new story.

I could publish more often but chose in the beginning to not do it because I didn't want to burn out. As a consequence, I don't have bazillions of followers like some other authors. I do look at the profiles of everyone who favorites my stories or starts to follow me to see who they are because I'm curious.

Most are men. Most have been here for >5 years, many >10 years. There are a few women, but their profiles often don't list that information. I only know because they PM, email, or send feedback, and say so.

I do wish more would send feedback about my work. I keep comments turned off because I don't need the crap the trolls spew. Deleting all that takes time I could be spending writing or doing other fun things. By keeping comments off, readers have to work a bit harder to comment through the feedback link but it's do-able. I only wish more would, I've gotten some very good pointers that way.

I think Candida Royal was a lady director that had a lot of romance in her porn movies.

I think in general, women porn directors probably have more romance in their movies versus the male directors.

There was also a film studio that was run by women that had more storylines / plots in them besides just sex. You might want to google for that info.

I feel the same way. I find most porn, be it written or in video form to be way over the top and generaly unappealing.

When I write erotica I try to be a bit more subtle, with a more romantic lead up.
