You go back the age you are now to the first year in that decade with the equivalent of 100 dollars in the currency of that era and one change of good quality clothes from that decade and one hotel room, inn, etc, stay the first night. Once you get to the end of that decade you automatically go back to the start of that decade with the same conditions. You do this as long as your natural life would have been if you had stayed in the present. It could be a loop for several decades depending on your age.
You have to start a new life from scratch, not contacting anyone you may have known then if you were alive at the time. You have to cut all ties to current loved ones (they will be told you died). You get no extra lifetime beyond what you would have staying in the present but you could die sooner depending on events that might happen.
